Re: Considering setting up a CB site....
Just a few pointers on general surfer/buyer psychology. I'm not a clickbank expert although I have run a few CB items and made a few bucks.
If you do reviews, don't give them all a positive rating. People want to feel like the reviewer is being honest with them. The best way to do that is to nicely trash one or two products and give decent reviews of the others. You also need to be aware that there are various ways to review. you can be the next door neighbor who had a similar problem (couldn't get girls, had man-boobs, whatever) who tried everything and just wanted to share what you found, or you could be the professional, scientific type who, for the sake of all man kind, took it upon yourself to reveal the truth.
Different buyer groups will respond to each type of review. No matter what your product, you should test both to see which one gets a better response. This is true with any product by the way, not just cb stuff.
As for adding banners or adsense or whatever to the site, there are mixed feelings about this. One camp says, "Hey, if they don't buy, at least they click a banner when they go so I make something!". The other camp says, "I don't want them to be able to escape my site without at least going to the sales page so my cookie gets set."
I tend to fall into the latter camp. Based on my tests I get better conversions when there are fewer "escape valves" on the site. However, if you plan on advertising through google, your quality score can take a big hit for doing this so having outbound links to expert sites, news articles etc. can help your quality score which in the long run might make the campaign more profitable through the Big G, even if you lose the occasional surfer to some other site or affiliate.
Good luck with it.
