Its because most people forget about the act of 1871 which changes human beings into goods which means you are under commercial law

Seriously guys this has been wandering around the internet and the anti-Govt groups for a long time. While you can argue whether or not the US Govt should tax income it is pretty cut and dried that they have the constitutional right. The 16th amendment says so and the Supreme Court has ruled that they can.

AMENDMENT XVI Passed by Congress July 2, 1909. Ratified February 3, 1913.
Note: Article I, section 9, of the Constitution was modified by amendment 16.
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

How anybody can read that and say it does not give Congress the right to tax income escapes me.

The are two arguments used.

First that the 16th amendment was not properly ratified. The problem with that is that the Supreme Court has ruled it was and the way things are setup in this country is that if the Supreme Courts says it is constitutional than it is constitutional.

The second argument they use is they take the IRS manuals and deliberately misread them. When the manuals are talking about the IRS employees they try to twist all the meanings around to fit what they want it to say.

I have seen just about all the info these people have been passing around, my ex father in law just knew he would be able to get out of paying taxes and used to try and convince me all the time. I read all that info he had and most of it was logic you would expect from a second grader and he had tons of it. The lack of logic was astounding, you could drive a semi truck through just about every argument without even trying hard.

There have a few people take this to court and not one of them has ever won a court case. NOT ONE...........and there are more than a few in prison for trying.

The only shot at this is that the court changes views so it is not such a bad idea to challenge decisions (inlcuding this one) from time to time.

While I do not disagree in theory the people pushing the "income tax is unconstitutional" thing pretty much completely ignore all the court rulings like they never happened.

Then you have to look at the Supreme Courts record over the last 10 years or so. It has approved so many laws that clearly go against the meaning and intent of the constitution that to hope it is somehow going to rule against an amendment that has already been ruled on multiple times is seriously misplaced.
