Nope. I'm in a JV so I don't have to deal with it. That's one of the perks of teaming up with someone. :-)

yes I have a full time book keeper as well as a CPA that comes in once a month. Saves a lot of money in the long run. If your making less than 300k I would not worrie about it. 300k and above there is a lot of things that can be done tax wise.

So I realize I either need to:
A. Team up with someone awesome
B. Make 300k +
Got it

Well there is a difference between a bookkeeper and a cpa to do your taxes.
I have a girl come in once a week and do general bookkeeping and office work that I rather not do myself. She does not do my taxes though. I have a tax guy for my taxes that I meet with a few times a year.
Once you start making making enough to live on then you should probably visit a cpa to see how much money they can save you. Usually not very expensive and in my case he always find something I would have missed so I at least break even and usually come out ahead.

Thanks for this, volund, this is great information!
I'm not at the level I want to be at yet with my online earnings, but when I get there, I will certainly higher a bookkeeper and a cpa.
Anyone ever hire either one on sites like Elance? I've seen a few of them advertising their services on their, and I wonder how that works with receipts and such. Do you mail them or scan the receipts?

Re: Do any of you pay a book keeper?
I have used a bookkeeper/accountant in the past.
i have hired them from guru.com It works out pretty well. But I being
a former accountant myself helps, in that I am able to explain to them how to do the books the way I want them done. I typical pay $4.00 an hour from someone from India.

wow, that's cheap! i'm going to go and have a look at that site. i'm a little worried about outsourcing things though... i know how i want things done, and by the time i explain how i want something, i figure i may as well have just done it myself.
i'll check this out though!
