Default Could I take some heat over this?

My site is promoting a video game cpa offer and i bought a domain name that was :

    (GAME INITIALS)FORFREE.net

I was thinking of expanding my advertising to a local billboard on a highway that gets about 1 million cars passing daily. Yeah 30 million impressions/month for just under 400 bucks (.000013 cents/ impression).

Now my question is would I be risking anything if I just had my website url on the billboard with a signature graphical aspect that I know isn't copyrighted? Am I violating anything by having the initials in my domain?

    Thanks guys

If those initials are used by the company, or commonly attributed to that company then yes. Would the company come after you? Maybe....

Spend some money on good legal advice before you book the billboard.

If the initials on their own aren't a trademark then it's highly unlikely that you'll run into any trouble, unless you use any other elements that ARE trademarked (logos etc.)

That said, I'm no trademark attorney so take my advice with a grain of salt and seek actual legal advice to be sure to stay out of trouble.

You should be fine if the initials aren't trademarked (as said above). Steer clear from any images that are theirs. You can put up similar images that can be mistaken for something from the game because you can't get a lawsuit if they don't own the image you drew up or outsourced the artwork for

And as for the billboard, it may only be $400 a month but you'll have to pay for the design of the billboard, and then pay people to put up the image. Unless you have one of those fancy digital billboards

I just researched it and the three initials are trademarked for something completely else. The initials however are not well known for the trademarked topic but rather the video game.

if your abbreviating it shouldn't be a issue, but if your trying to go with something like MW3forfree , MW3 is a known abbreviation for Modern Warfare three, you may get some heat.

I like your idea maybe I should get a billboard for a domain name and redirect my domain name to the affiliate offer : )

Like others are saying just check to see if the abbreviation is trademarked under the company. Also, the big thing they could come after you is use of copyright material on your website. Make sure you aren't breaking laws there.
