Register offshore company without agent

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to register an offshore company without agent? I am just curios if I could skip the middle man. If you are properly informed I don't see any difficulties about filling forms by yourself.
Has anyone had any experiences. Please share your thoughts.

Generally speaking - No.

There's a few jurisdictions that do allow this (Cyprus, for instance) but the vast majority require that all registrations go through registered agents - mostly to avoid having to deal with forms that aren't filled correctly etc.

Another side to it is that an agent/incorporator typically has an in-house notary or connections with one, meaning that you'll be able to get your registration docs notarised without any hassle. Otherwise you have to shop for the notary yourself and it can end up being even more expensive than getting the whole package from a single incorporator.

Same applies to most offshore banks, by the way. The general rule is that banks only accept your application if it comes through an introduction by someone they have a contract with - such as most registered agents. Many banks do say that you can apply directly but you can be 99% sure that your application will be denied.

All of that said - even if you find a jurisdiction that allows direct registrations I strongly suggest you to go with an agent as the prices aren't that high (about a grand tops but can be as little as $400-$500 in some cases) and it's most definitely worth the elimination of all the hassle.

To expand on this. No, no, and... No. You need to have someone in the jurisdiction to form the company for you and also to receive legal notices on behalf of the company.

Hi,

Many thanks for great advice. I have several other questions but instead of opening a new thread I would appreciate if you could answer them here.

1. I am "one man show" and would like to stay that way after registration of my offshore company. I read somewhere that forming LLC (Nevis or some other jurisdiction) would be perfect for my case since I do not want any complication with book keeping, taxation, etc. Also if I form LLC, there won't be need for involvement of other people , or am I missing something?

2. Since most of my business will be done for clients located in the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar...) and since these countries actually require that the company is locally registered, what would be the best way to work with them locally. Any kind of virtual office?

3. Is there a way to present my company as registered in UK, instead of Nevis, for example? I would like it to look more serious. Just few clients will actually want to work with company that is established in some remote location.

How to approach this so that I can run my business with minimal hassle (taxation etc.) but to look as it was established in UK or any other place in Europe?

Any help?
