Default Selling blackhat content via PayPal

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anybody knows from their experience whether PayPal tends to take action against people who sell content that may be considered illegal in some juristictions, if reported by an angry buyer.

Here's the point: I was recently selling a report on a few of my methods that involved CL posting and using those methods can therefore be not entirely legal and classified as fraud in some countries.

I now have an angry buyer who claims that the methods weren't 100% unique (my sales page never said they were) etc. etc. and wanting a refund (most likely a kid trying to save the $37 and get the book for free).

What worries me a little is that the person threatened me saying that he'll contact PayPal, sending them a copy of my report and doing everything he can to get PayPal limit my account based on the fact that I (allegedly) sell instructions on how to commit fraud.

While I'm not a whole lot concerned about the case, mainly knowing how hard it is to get any contact with PayPal outside of filing a dispute (which usually favours the seller in case of digital items), I still began wondering whether there's anything PayPal can do against me and if they've actually done anything like that before.

All comments are much appreciated!

Thanks,
Bryan

If it was me, it might just be easier to give the kid a refund and save your paypal account. Maybe see what he's into and steer him to another report, etc, give him a bonus. Sometimes jerks like this can cause more problems than they're worth.

I forgot to mention that my Paypal account is on my own name and fully verified (valid credit card and bank account, ID and address proof sent a while ago and accepted by PP). The account doesn't have a long history as a merchant but it's flawless - ~30 sells with a couple of refunds and zero disputes. And the account itself is more than 3 years old (opened initially to do some ebay purchases).

@BenQs: Yeah, I was actually considering this. Just thought it would be good to hear other peoples' experience regarding similar situations as it's heavily against my principles to voluntarily refund scammers.

Just to give you all an update - the person did file a dispute, which I escalated to PayPal myself and a week later I got a nice little message saying that I had won it Case closed.

Never give in a case such as this or similar.....ever. You will only fuck yourself in the long run, and you will start doing it for everyone.

Your attitude will become one of fear and you'll be worried about every little fucking thing, it's a mental game in the end.

Also, look at the big picture. Do you really think PayPal is going to take a real close look at you and your transactions because some little fuck sent them your report and hounded them? They are too big and could care less.

Just remind the creep that falsely requesting a refund is fraud and theft. Then do the right thing and offer him some customer service (help) using the product. Try to keep a happy customer.

You need to look into ebook security. I know it sounds kinda dumb but it could help you out in the long run.

EbookGold is a pretty good program. It send out pin numbers to your customers so they can access the ebook. So if someone asks for a refund you can disable that specific ebook.
