I have spent most of the morning searching the forum for automated blogging plugins for WordPress since I have been familiarizing myself with autoblogs and how they are done for quite some time now.

I ran into some confusion while searching throughout the forum, because I see there seems to be a problem with Caffeinated Content these days. I know this is/was a very popular autoblogging script and a lot of people were using it in its prime. So, I decided I wasn't going to go with CC.

Then the next plugin that seems to be very popular as well is WP-O-Matic. Well, it seems the current version is a bit out-dated and I saw people posting about various bugs and problems that they were encountering. So now I'm not so sure about starting with this plugin either, but it seems a lot of people still use it. I think someone said a new version was expected to be out soon. Anyone know when? On the WordPress Plugins page it says it was last updated on 07/18/2008, and is only compatiable up to WP 2.6.

Finally, I ran across AutoBlogged. This plugin looks really nice and feature-packed, and I know some of you on the board use it. After reading over some praises towards AutoBlogged, I went and read their site. It looks very interesting, and very promising. It also seems like it is updated whenever needed.

So if anyone could give me any extended feedback on AutoBlogged, besides "this is the best autoblog plugin ever" (or the opposite), I would greatly appreciate it. Of course feedback on any other plugins are definitely encouraged as well.

i think its better to try it yourself so u can choose which one suite your need. everybody have different needs

That is what I kind of figured but after searching the forum and finding constant problems with the best scripts available here for download, I figured I might get some specific insight on what people were using, had used, or if they were having any problems with any specific plugin so I would know more of which to avoid.

But, I'll just try them out myself, starting with AutoBlogged since it seems to be stable and feature-rich; it's the best way to learn anyway.

We keep autoblogged up-to-date with the latest wp releases (because wordpress releases tend to break things). We are currently testing our update for wp 2.8 in anticipation of its release.

Wp-o-matic and feedwordpress are both pretty good free alternatives, depending on what features you need.

autoblogged is shit... lol j/k.. its actually pretty good..buggy though. wp-o-matic is a good free alternative..but buggy also..

Search the forum for the modified wpomatic version. It will help with dupe content issues

The problem with autoblog is that you won't get full article out of rss feeds......actually there is no plugin which can get full articles.

I've tried wp-o-matic and autoblogged. I never had much success with wp-o-matic. Autoblogged has been very good though. It's simple to use for a newbie like me. Yes it's limited to articlebase only but that's fine for me for now. I'm just starting out with autoblogging so if you are just learning the ropes autoblogged will get you started just fine.

Can you please give me the topic name. Are you talking about the "99% guide to autoblog topic"?

There are ways to get full feeds.. just do a google search and you'll find it.

I use different methods myself that work very well.l

the ZipPoster drip feed plugin works well with autoblogging too but it doesn't have all the bells n whistles that AutoBlogged has though

WP Autoblog is another free one that works - but it is no longer updated and has no bells and whistles but it works...

I'm using WP-O-Matic on another blog that I own and it works like a charm. It was easy to install and easy to customize the options that I wanted for my site.

Here's the list of features from the WP site:

I appreciate the link, but I am pretty sure there is a way to post the full article with AutoBlogged, WP-O-Matic, and CC. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it can be done.

Both WP-O-Matic and Autoblogged are great but... I use Autoblogged because i can't get WP-O-Matic to work with yahoo pipes. Why do i need to work with yahoo pipes?
I need it because it's the easiest way to get the full content from feeds using a pipe created by a BHW member

1+ for WP-O-Matic plugin, it still works good with wordpress 2.7.1 and use less server resources than some other plugins . will be more powerful if you can customize/add some tweak to it .

Caffeinated content has been broken for quite some time now. It's not pulling articles most of the time. I have given up on it.

Important Info for anybody who uses Autoblogged!

DONT UPGRADE TO LATEST WP!

I logged into my wordpress installation a few mins ago + upgraded WP to latest version - now AutoBlggd is not "auto" anymore. The feeds will work but only manually activated. Also in Settings the SAVE button has disappeared. What a shame, this plug-in was the dogs bollox.

Damned wished I hadn't bothered upgrading...
Heres's to hoping somebody will have the latest version for share.

autoblogged works great imho and having used caffeinated content along with another content puller
autoblogged is far better in terms of options to get content from and customization tags etc (but i cannot figure out for the life of me to get the images in the posts with autoblogged plugin)
if any of you figure out a way to get the pictures in the excerpt post with autoblogged can you please tell me how thanks

Apparently after reading some of the comments at the above link some are still having problems. As stated earlier in this post they seem to be dedicated to providing constant updates and support, so I am sure this isn't or won't be a major issue. I'll probably shoot their support an E-mail.

@ RRamirez - Unfortunately I have been so busy online with other methods and other offline personal stuff that I have not been able to purchase a copy of AutoBlogged yet to try it out. If you are using a legit version, I suggest contacting the support team or using their support forums...

We had an update (for registered customers) for wp 2.8 the day after it was released; we try to keep up on that as much as possible. However, since wordpress is a constantly evolving platform, we expect there will be bugs appearing over the next few weeks. We have a dozen test blogs that all seem to be running fine with wp2.8. The issue mentioned in our forums is fairly isolated, but we will get that fixed as well.

rramirez, it may be the theme causing the problem. The feed might also be doing non-standard stuff. Try using %content% in your post template.

i like autoblogged but it uses too much resources, so i use wp-o-matic, is there any way to make autoblogged to consume less resources? with a dedi or a vps, i would prefer autoblogged rather than wp-o-matic

@guschman: Yes, you can send an e-mail to support and they will give you an upgrade code.

It all depends on the kind of features your looking for, for example their are plugins dedicated to grabbing videos from YouTube, then their are plugins which just have a poor youtube add-on, once you've figured out what features you'll require, then go though the options, you might find that it's best to use multipul plug ins in order to get the best results. One of the pains with autoblogging is setting them up, but once their set up, usually you can easily leave them.

Hey m8 I'm going to have to give another thumbs up to WP O-Matic. Works like a charm.
Unfortunately I went ahead and upgraded to 2.8 on one of my sites.

I say unfortunately, because I simply don't like it. But despite the plethora of horror stories out there, WP O-Matic still works quite fine on both my 2.8 and my other 2.71 blogs (which will stay 2.71!)

@autoblogged: Thanks for replying with the quickness bro! Your script/support team seems top-notch! Like I said in the E-mail, your script will be the one I purchase as soon as I have the time to start messing with autoblogs.

@fangbin: I know autoblogged already touched on what you could do to conserve resources but I just wanted to throw in the fact that a dedicated server would most likely definitely do the trick and allow you to use a lot more bandwidth and resources at a much faster pace. That is, with any blog, script, website, etc.

Great remark, I had also previously made a post about the best SEO plugin for WordPress that is currently out right now. Although it did not get near as much of a response as this thread has so far, some people included some really good info and I ended up coming to my own conclusion regarding the current SEO plugins for WP.

WP o matic serves its purpose for me well, haven't used anything else. Big bug is that you can't pull more than a certain amount of posts from a certain number of feeds at the same time or whatever. But it works for me. BUT, I haven't updated WP either, for fear it will fuck up everything. Anyone used o matic and updated?
