Well, I have this blog that I setup a while ago. I currently have a good theme and some articles (along with Adsense on it) but I am unsure about the SEO (backlinking) on it. Should I keep on posting articles until I have a good collection of them until I start doing the SEO or should I do the SEO with the current articles I have?

I am not always available so new articles will not exactly be posted that often and not on any particular time every week or so, what I imagine is that if I try to do the SEO now and get my rank up people will come, see top little content (maybe 3 articles at present) leave and then not come back.

At the same time I feel like if I keep on posting articles and improving my blog people could easily take my content and I would have no chance when it comes to ranking later on.

Thanks for the help people. :)

Maybe try to even it out and do both at the same time? That would be my suggestion. But then again, everyone knows that my strong point in IM is not SEO.....

Do them both at the same time - I always have a lot of content lined up to autopost on my blogs, and while it is going I build backlinks etc.

In my opinion you probably shouldn't throw a bunch of new backlinks at old content. I would make at least a few new articles to show that the site has recent activity to justify the new links.

Online SEO first before Offline SEO..... Do some research on google regarding both types of SEO. If you're not good with SEO, make sure to focus on as much as content possible. You can SEO it later...

Thanks to all for the answers. I've decided to put on some more content and try to do both at the same time. I got two questions that I feel would be unnecessary to start a new thread about, I hope someone can answer me since I haven't 100% grasp on how SEO and backlinking works.

1. I have 5 keyword phrases (with 1-3 words in every phrase) that I would like to try and rank/be visible for. How do I do backlinks for this? Do I just use A HREF tags (where they works) and other tags for forums for example and link to my page with one of the keywords as the "title" in the tag?

2. Do I link to my homepage or to individual posts? Of course it depends on where I am about to post it but in general?

#1. Pretty much yes. But you should only try to do 1-2 keywords phrases per page. When you link to your site from other forums, etc., use your keywords but also use variations of them, some LSI, your domain, and no follow and follow. You are right you want to establish a fair number of backlinks that match the title tags.
#2, you can do either. link to the homepage for your overall topic keywords, then you can link to single posts with backlinks relevant to their subjects. That's pretty much all the general info I can give without knowing specifics. Good luck!

You should stick to as much content as possible. You stated that you don't have time to write content, but you want to spam the rest of the internet with links to your site?

Plus you don't feel its worth adding content incase other people steal it.

In fact i've changed my mind. Spam the shit out of it with backlinks and off page seo, and then post another question a few weeks from now complaining that you've done loads of seo and your site is still nowhere to be seen.

Do them both concurrently. I tend to get bore when doing the same thing over n over again.

Do you think your site will be in 1st page as soon you start doing SEO? Na na.. It will take some time to get it ranked. So the best thing is post 3 to 5 articles and start building backlinks and post 1 article per day. If it got ranked 1 in a month you will be having 35 articles totally. Its good for your readers.

Really you have to do both at the same time so its better you upload some articles and do some seo for that articles.
secondly try to make some good orginal content which is 100% legit and where people loves to read and spend time on it.

Thanks

Start with 1 article each day and keep doing it for 1 month. Remember to use the social media from day 1 and make around 5-6 backlinks per day. Try to make it as much natural as you can.

Drip feed the articles, along with the backlinks. Make sure you post a few articles to begin with, as well... And lighten the backlink load earlier on to avoid sandboxing.
