I've been doing this for YEARS and tested a lot of different ways and I've found what works best for me is to cloak the affiliate link...
Instead of using the standard: hxxp://xxxxxx.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.net/ which shows your CB nickname in front of the vendor's nickname, you use cloaking software that allows you to display the link like this:
hxxp://www.yourdomain.com/recommends/affiliate-program
There's also cloakers out there that will allow you to create a cloaked affiliate link just like the above but with a .html at the end as well... I've done extensive testing with both and I prefer the cloakers that add the .html as I "think" the visitor clicking on the link THINKS they are simply going to another page on my site and even the link in the url location box of their browser confirms that.
Remember... Most internet surfers/visitors aren't like us... They're like you're Mom, your sister, your brother, etc.
They don't know shit and that's good for us.
When I was just using standard CB hoplinks, eventually enough savvy visitors were able to figure out that they could simply purchase the shit via their very own CB hoplink and that cuts into your bottom line.
I put too much work into this garbage to give it up... Of course the uber savvy buyer will still thwart your cloaking and get their own hoplink but overall, cloaking the link keeps me from losing a hell of a lot of $$$$$$.
