What am I missing here? (Niche KW)
Trying to get my first niche site going, but this thing seems too good to be true.
Found a niche keyword with:
low competition (29% in TrafficThomas)
65k local views
PPC of 1.88
with a .net address available.
I'm pretty ground floor when it comes to niche research, but from a by the book look, this thing should be pretty sweet, right?
What else should I be looking for that would make this a stupid idea to pursue?

Download something like Traffic Travis to analyze your top 10 competition.
BL's, authority BL's, age of domain, etc.
TT will even tell you how easy/hard it will be to rank (not completely accurate, but it can give you an idea.)

Traffic Travis and Market Samurai both are good for keyword research.
I personally use Market Samurai and it works just good.

Re: What am I missing here? (Niche KW)
Sorry for the delayed update! I've been keeping a journal (to be posted tonight hopefully) of stuff I've been trying to help out other new folks like myself.
That first keyword, after doing some analysis turned out to be much more difficult than I'd like my first foray to be.
That said, I've been digging around and think I've found something else a little more up my alley. I can't post a link to the data due to forum restrictions, but PM me and I can send over the competition information.
The gist of the KWA is:
Local Exact Matches (Monthly): 18100. PPC 2.83.
The competition has a few FB, YT, and Wiki links and then some scattered gaming sites. None of the sites have Title, Description, or H1 set up either, and a [keyword][relevantword] domain is available.
Whats the opinion of beating YT, FB and Wiki? Feasible with traditional methods or a waste of time?

FB and YT should be easy to beat whereas for the Wiki page it depends on the backlinks of that page.. Apart from competition, you should see if the keyword converts well with Adsense because if it doesn't then you would simply be wasting your time

From the Traffic Estimator:
Average Estimated CPC
$0.34 - $0.42
Total Estimated Clicks
0.47 - 0.57
Total Estimated Cost
$0.18 - $0.21
Not super swell. The Keyword tool kept giving me a result of CPC= 2.10 as well, odd.
Back to the drawing board I guess.

No, that's pretty sweet... at least grab the domain before making sure whether this is true or not... You can sell it for more $$ in case this wasn't true or liquidize the domain

Re: What am I missing here? (Niche KW)
I suppose this is a related question as well. Are most of the keywords you nich'ers out there find related to a product? This KW is related to a game, so I'm not sure how many conversions she'd get.
I was planning on doing pure ad cents with this thing initially, then building it into an Authority site in time.
