Just getting started, a few pointers?
Hi folks.
I started a Blogger blog, for a niche I think will be good (I used the Google tools to search for the keywords)
I have Autoblog Samurai to send some RSS feeds to the blog and I have setup Amazon Affiliates. There is a skyscraper banner and context links (I put a link at the bottom of each post saying "Search Amazon for XXX")
I also have Adsense on the page (leaderboard under the title)
Just wanted to know the best way to get people finding my site with a search?
What other stuff can I do to promote the site and squeeze money out of it?
I believe the niche is good, but as I'm new, I'm unsure what the next step is? Make more blogs of the same niche?

Re: Just getting started, a few pointers?
If you want to literally TRIPLE the traffic to your blog posts then do everything you can to learn about OPSEO (on page search engine optimization).
True, inbound links carry the most weight, but if your page is not properly optimized then you are wasting much of the effects (all other things being equal) of inbound linkage.
Pay close attention to:
your URL structure on each post
your title tag
your h1/h2
your meta description tag
Yes, there are other things... but if you get just those exactly right and TIGHTLY focused on one thing per post/page... then you have just tripled your traffic more than likely.
Good luck.

Re: Just getting started, a few pointers?
I find that the best way to start building traffic for a site is through manually driving targeted traffic. The techniques for how to do this will vary depending on your niche. Think about what people will want to see your site and where they will be looking. Then start directing them to your site. some popular ways are commenting on similar blogs, using twitter, using youtube, and more.

Re: Just getting started, a few pointers?
Don't think about squeezing money out of your blog, especially at this stage. If it is a new blog with few visitors, then forget about earning cash and try and build up your traffic. It is easier to build traffic when you don't have ads everywhere, and you're likely not to make much at this stage anyway. Wait until you have decent traffic before you monatarise.
To build decent traffic, then the best way is to build decent content. You can trick the search engines all you want with this technique and that, but nobody will stay on the blog long and click or buy if the content is poor. Also good posts will attract natural links, or at least make link building easier. Also your great content will more likely be passed around on social sites - this again is more likely without ads everywhere.
