Its time I stop being lazy and TAKE CONTROL OF MY LIFE!! I'm sick of living in a small apt and I always feel somewhat guilty when my parents sacrifice themselves for myself.

And its bad enough that I'm in college not doing too good of a job. I'm thinking this was just another mistake in life that I took.

So I'm asking everyone on BHW to give me a hand. ITS SEO TIME DAMN IT!!

I've done seo a bit and noticed some results like getting on page 1-3 but never got any real results from them. I'm obviously missing something so I did a bit of research and found out what I need to do.

1 - Keyword research is the top most important thing
~number of google results is important
~cpa above $1.00
~at least 30 searches a day

2 - SEO Competition gets its own category, this is where I need a lot of help.

MAIN QUESTION - How do I study my seo competition? How do I find out if I can take page one without a problem? Is there a site/software that will help me do this?

edit - If possible, i'd like someone to pick a random keyword that you can easily rank 1 for in 3 weeks.

Well, I guess I'll mention it. I have to make a decision soon anyway.

I was aiming for my bachelors of art. Started out really well, got to later classes and f'ed up too much, and now I got a letter saying I need to appeal in order to get back to my classes.

Pretty much I lost my motivation and not sure what I want to do now. If I appeal, take 4 classes per quarter and pass them all, I can get my degree in 1 year.

However, with the little motivation I have, and with the lost of almost half my work cause of my hardrive crapping up on me, and with some classes standing in my way (sculpting), I feel that I should take another route. I heard I can transfer my credits, take a test to grab my associates but I need to do some more research on that.

Anyway, I doubt I will be going back to that school. I'm currently 22 years old, was a full time student but now I'll probably be looking for a job soon.

Thats where I'm at now. I got about $2000 in my bank account from loans and probably more coming and since I only pay small monthly fees (or will be in 6 months anyway), I'm thinking I can double that money some how. Thats my plan.

edit - Check my post counts. I've been hear and I learned a lot. Most of my posts were on questions, answers and such and after failing with seo and youtube then doing some more research, I think I'm almost getting the idea of what needs to be done.

• Keyword research is the most important aspect of SEO.
• Number of search results is not important.
• Top 10/20 competition is what is important, you could have 10 search results, but if those top 10 are all .edu's and wikipedia, it's not easy.
• 30 searches is ~12 visitors a day if you're #1, you'll probably get 1-3% CTR on your ads remember, IMHO I wouldn't target anything with less than 100 exact searches daily.

2 - SEO Competition gets its own category, this is where I need a lot of help.

MAIN QUESTION - How do I study my seo competition? How do I find out if I can take page one without a problem? Is there a site/software that will help me do this?

• Download/Purchase Market Samurai, then if all of the competition is green across the board then it should be easy to take #1.
• In MS, even if the top 10 pages have thousands of backlinks and thousands of pages of content, if the right hand side of the results(Where it shows how the page is targeteting that specific keyword) are all green, then it should still be easy to take a high rank.
• You CAN beat authority sites if the only reason that site is ranking for that keyword is because it is an authority site. If it doesn't target that keyword in the slightest, then as long as you understand atleast a little about SEO you should be fine.
• Wouldn't recommend other tools, Traffic Travis is unreliable for this and Market Samurai does a great job.

edit - If possible, i'd like someone to pick a random keyword that you can easily rank 1 for in 3 weeks.

• If someone did that, then there'd be atleast 200 other people instantly register variations of that keyword as a domain name and become your competitor, thus it would pretty much become impossible for you to take #1 for that keyword.

Take control, complete your degree and do it in something an employer will want, maybe marketing or business. Do SEO part-time until you start getting discipline and begin executing. Otherwise, it's all mental masturbation on your part.

Because you have to have a lot of them in order to make decent money. Most people here, IF they are honest with you, will tell that it takes anywhere from 120-300 MNS sites to make the $3k a month you see here.

You need something that does not take as much to keep going. So you need to focus on long term streams.

You need to focus on ONE project that you can work on everyday and will provide you a SEO lesson. I suggest you do some keyword research and pick 1 niche that interests you. After that, plan on making an authority site!

@bertbaby (Perhaps. However, I feel that to take control of your life, I need to "be my own boss." My plan is to see if I can transfer and grab my associates or bachelors from another school since the school I'm at requires quite a bit more credits then I realize compared to other schools or so I heard.

My art skills are decent imo... no, its awesome. For me though, time is an issue as I'm a slow artist and I can't seem to get things done in time. So I end up rushing and turning in ok or crap work.

@afro25 I tried market samurai but it didn't work for me. I forgot the error (tried ms a bit ago) but I looked it up and they mentioned something about google changing something so the search functions, gather keywords, etc didn't work (looks like there is another update so I'll have to see if I can get the free trial again).

1 - I tried network marketing (just had to promote them). For about a year, I failed horribly cause I wasn't guided in the right direction. Basically blogging without understanding keyword research or studying seo competition. I was under the impression that low competition on google adwords=easy to get page 1 on. Because of that, I wasted time and money on a keyword I never got to page 1 on.

Got lazy with seo (even though I know seo is probably best) and went on with youtube. Got like 5-10 videos on page 1 (some rank 1). Got money from that (not much, like $200). All of a sudden, I got a red email from youtube saying I got a strike, then another, then my account was suspended (along with the multiple accounts I created using different ips). My guess here is that they just saw me on the search results and started suspending them.

So gave up on youtube, felt piss for a good bit, got lazy and stopped marketing all together, then got motivated when I got my hands on senuke.

Blasted my keyword (that I didn't do the right research on) and got on page 2. Was happy. I thought If I kept running small diagrams on senuke each week, I'd get on page 1. Instead, I ended up on page 3, then 4 (jumping between them).

So after this, I tried znz. Just spamming using software and got a couple bucks off that. And thats where I am.

2 - What am I confused about? Researching seo competition. From what afro above said, market samurai seems to be what I need but is there anything else besides market samurai? Honestly, I'm annoyed when google changes something that makes MS not functional.

I haven't gotten a chance to even use it yet. I'll try downloading their free trial again though to see if it works.

3 - What interests me? Making money man Honestly SEO is the last thing I want to do but if it will make me that money, I don't mind doing it. I seem to have the most fun with youtube though.

You really need that many sites to make 3k? What about blogging? Each posts makes it on google.... Or is that just to get money from adsense or something?

I guess my main goal is to "recruit" people into the same network marketing I'm doing (a legit one) and also to recruit people into znz (an affiliate program where you complete offers and get others to do offers to get paid ex credit report, discover card, etc).

updated market samurai, hit "generate keywords" and it seems to be working now. I'll get another trial version tomorrow to see what MS can do.

Well if you can do keyword research and find emd's then checking their SEO competition shouldn't be a problem.. Start up Market Samurai, go to the SEO competition section, generate results, if you see a lot of GREEN bars then it's a keyword you can get ranked for easily

Look for SEO analytics tools where you can find out which keywords is ranking higher and why.

Your problem is that you are looking for obstacles rather than solutions. I notice that the word lazy is in your post quite a bit. Take it from the laziest person in the world, that is your problem. If you were REALLY lazy like me, you would do everything right as possible the first time so you don't have to frack with it further.

Your problem seems to be that you wont get off your butt and go all in. Half assed efforts will bring half assed results.

Its really hard to ignore everything and concentrate on work. I sometimes lose control and find myself wasting a day or two, watching movies, playing games or whatever.

I say start working, now, before you run out of money. I always work like I should when I know I'm running out of money. The trick is to always work like that.

I would suggest not to touch the money in your bank account. Who knows? Your investment might not return, and you need money to live. So I suggest you start a free blog here: http://blogspot.com, put Ads, and write around 3 articles a day. DON'T COPY AND PASTE ARTICLES, you will get slapped by Google for that. Read around the forum for more info about that.

So I can only read and write on Internet.

Deleted my Facebook, my Internet won't play movies, cause of low mb usage, and I even put an adult lock on my Internet and deleted records of the password so now I can't even check out porn hahaha no YouTube, no Facebook no porn JUST OLD FASHIONED WORK WORK WORK.

If I ever want to download something I go for a coffee in McDonalds and use their free wifi!!!

edit - I decided to do a specific game blog. This particular game gets a decent amount of searches per month (around 20-30,000). If I got first page, how much would I get from cpa? Just seeing where my goal needs to be.

K, after looking around the forums some more, I think I'm almost ready to start my new blog. I'm still a bit concerned about one thing....

googles algorithms. I've read on a thread that even white hatters rank dropped from page 1 to like page 5 or further down. Thats one thing I'm worried about.

so backlinks.... web 2.0, articles, social networks, forum profiles. That sound about right? Also, If I were to use Senuke on a new domain name, how much should I limit my link pyramid or backlinks?

1 - keyword research using market samurai
2 - Make my blog, add a capture page, make it look pretty (I don't plan on spending too much time here).
3 - Use a basic diagram with senuke

Research Learn and then implement,but slowly...Not too many things at a time...You need not to be jack of all trades..If you are planning to be a SEO master then learn the basics of SEO.earn money and then divide the return and share a part of it to next venture...In this way your business will grow big...

start with planning in which area you can make a valuable site for visitors
then make a valuable site with using your knowladge gained from here

Well I'll be the one to say it, take your opportunity and finish school. You've invested a lot of time and I'm guessing that your parents have spent a lot of money for you to get your degree. You're so close that there's little reason for you to not 'man up' and realize that you're in a fortunate situation. Life is about seizing opportunities and this one is right in front of you and attainable if you change your poor behaviour.

If you think dragging your ass to school is tough, it pales in comparison to the work that you'll need to do become proficient and really learn how to rank and monetize a site from scratch. It takes work, practice, and experimentation. If you're not willing to put the time in, then you're really going to want that degree which to some people still means proficiency or at least the ability to stick with something long enough to complete it.

If you're like many of us, you may be fortunate to have a family of your own one day and they will be looking to you to keep them warm, comfortable, and happy. Maybe you'll stay single. Either way, write down some goals for 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years. Put that list in a place where you see it all the time and think about what you're doing to reach them.

Watching movies and playing video games doesn't pay the bills. They are distractions to reaching your goals. Remove the crap from your life, including certain friends if necessary, and focus on the things that will move you forward.

It sounds like you're at a pivotal point in your life so I hope you make some good choices.
