my best earning blogs are updated 3 to 4 times a year. Google sees them as reference sites with authority, so no need to update more. Other blogs I update 1 time per 1 or 2 weeks. Totally, sufficient in niches imho.

I agree with "Autoblaster" on that one. But content is key. You may want to outsource.

No limitation...some do different...look what your site type...

Authority site : my first month 1 article a day then 3 articles a day and planning consistently to update 5 articles a day...

2 -3 that would leave you more than 60 post a month and each page should concentrate on different keywords

I post every other day, some time's a little more. Sometimes you can push out too much info, it really depends on the niche your in.

Some of my smaller clients elect to get 1 post a week (I provide more but they have stingy budgets.)

My full time SEO job has 12 microsites all publishing 1 post a day.

This also includes our money-site blog which updated 2x a day.

around 14 posts a day

I agree with the people that say posting regularly is important. Are there any blog memes you could join in with? Taking part in a weekly posting contest with other bloggers could get you some decent traffic and incoming links.

Begin with 3-5 article a day. When you have gained stable position you can go as low as 2 posts / week.
