hi good day to you, I am planning to start my own blog (newb here), and I have no start up money so i cant buy domain/hosting. so which is better to use for free? WP or blogger? which is better for SEO? thank you!

WP or blogger, both has its own pros and cons. WP tends to be a bit more strict when it comes to monetizing your site, where as blogger is more relaxed. In terms of SEO, with blogger, you have full control on your XML templates. There are lots of resources available on how to tweak blogger templates to leverage SEO.

On a personal note, after quite a few of my WP.com blogs were deleted due to TOS violation, i've stuck to blogger.com

For a free source I suggest blogger as well. Once you get the money though, hosting and setting up word press on your own site is worth learning. Hang in there. You have a long road ahead but if IM does end up being your thing it will be worth every bit of effort.

I'll recommend blogger because they are simpler to rank and index with 0 Links

I would recommend you to go for blogger....

I prefer blogger over WP. But I would choose wp over blogger if i can get the keyword matching domain name

yes, that is my game plan. imma start off with this blog then if i get money out of it ill use it to get the necessary tools and also domain/hosting. thanks for the support!

yes, i know thats why my only investment right now is my time and my effort. im just trying to earn up to invest on the right tools right now as i really have no money.

To me that is worth more than the money I make from a project. Don't get me wrong... I do enjoy the income. However just being able to point to something with a wee bit of pride is priceless.

yes. thank you for that. I also want to prove others that earning online, which i strongly believe, is possible. thats whats important for me.

WP is far more powerful, but only if you're using the self-hosted version, the WP.com version doesn't allow for much customisation, so if you're sticking with free versions then I would say Blogger.

Migrate to paid hosting and WP ASAP though, shared hosting is pretty cheap and it'll be worth it for all the plugins.

I would suggest blogger. I just started right now and I'm getting dramatic results. I'm gonna wait till I reach 100$ then I'll proceed to paid hosting. Wish the best of luck for you dude.

I reccomend blogger too, becasue your blog will be indexed faster.

I usually get indexed within a day or two with WordPress, for the paid version at least.

Free: Go with Blogger, espcially since they allow adsense while the free wordpress does not.

IMHO Blogger is easier to use for a noob. I switched to WP after about 6 months of using Blogger and don't regret it a bit.

I would highly recommend you Wordpress beacuse it is easy to customize unlike blogger. Like if you want to add some content gateway,popup or individual meta tags that will be frustrating. But these things are necessary for a website. As i have said wordpress is also excellent for seo. For domain, you can purchase it form 1&1domains and host it on wordpress.com

In terms of SEO free version of WP is better than blogger.

I have 2 identical blogs - I post the same content in both. One on WP and one on blogger. The blogs aren't used for SEO, so I dont care about duplicate content. Its just some nice way to let the users of popular website to know whats going on.

Those blogs dont have a single backlink, however both rank for "domainname". WP is constantly above blogger.

However, as others said WP is hard to monetize.

But I focused on Blogger alone... After building about six of them, I got shut down for TOS violations (still don't know what i violated).

You've gotta spnd a little to amke a little; so unless you want all of your work just vanishing some day, you need to get your own domain/hosting...

If it's for free it's Blogger everytime! Also big G loves it;s baby!

Although this thread is a repetitive one, I am taking the plunge to answer your question.

Since you're on budget, go with blogger for now, easier to get indexed and what not.

and get the free domain .tk (i think google still indexes those domains)

now you have complete control over your domain.

if you go for free, i prefer blogger, as its a part of google, GOOGLE ll give some importance to blogger compared to WP, so i prefer blogger in case of free,...................

Yeah

But the time I took would save other people's time.(Who just hates these kinda repetitive threads.)

There is already a search function here, and he could use it.

I dont really feel bad about asking something which i am curious about. obviously i used the search portion but unfortunately i wasnt able to find so i created a thread. i am only looking for constructive responses who are willing to help me out, and it seems like your response is of no help at all. apparently attitude is not something which I am ashamed of, and standing up for myself is not bad also. anyways thank you for your time and goodluck to your future endeavors.

I much prefer wp when hosting my own blogs, but have has too many wordpress hosted bloggs binned for TOS violations.

if you are refering to free blogs whitout own hosting then its blogger if you want to earn som money on it.

Wordpress wants a cut of your earnings if you are going to use ads.

If you have your own hosting you should use wordpress

I will always go with blogger for better indexing and more valuable links.

Blogger of course!

Use blogger first, and make some bucks for your own host...

And if you don't have money, I suggest you to start with a blog farm like thing. You may choose to use autoblog way but even if you don't, you can still use picture uploading tactics to get some money. I am just saying.
