I have an autoblog up and running which has been chugging away for a few weeks now and I've noticed that every time there is a new post (or almost every time) I get a boost in traffic directly to that specific post. Why is this and should I even count them as unique visitors? I've heard that statpress can be a little screwy some times.

well, statpress does makes some errors. i think that if there are different people visiting the specific post, then they are unique.

New content always attracts new readers. Don't see anything to crazy about that. Might be an error, might not. Don't worry about it too much.

You should like that situation, why do you think it's something wrong with it? If you post quality content it's natural thing and even better over time when you will build some big amount of loyal readers.

statpress is pretty shitty IMO and records bots spidering your site.

i bet you have some auto ping or RSS thing set up that calls them in on each new post

Thanks for all the feedback. I was just wondering because the referring sites normally aren't tracked so I don't know where the traffic is coming from. Guess it doesn't matter too much. Traffic is traffic!
