Is that true?
My life is screwed up and I am not doing this to earn money right now but if I decide to really try to make money off of it do I have to write dumber?
My sister has cancer and I am taking care of her but eventually I would like to write articles for other people's blogs should I be concerned?

It depends on what your blog is about.
For instance, If it was a political blog, it is expected that the writing be at a higher level because a majority of people reading political blogs consider themselves intelligent. And they will attempt to argue intelligently.
However, if it was a sports blog, the posts or articles should be fairly simple to read and understand.
Another example would be a blog writing book reviews- writing should be at a higher level.
A blog about guitar playing-shouldn't be difficult.
Those are just a few examples.
