Ok, so here's my story...I've had a very close family member pass away due to drug addiction in 2009. In response, my mother and I have put together a blog to help those in the same situation before its too late. The goal is to ultimately gain enough attention to get a state bill passed in Indiana and Florida to help addicts get help before it's too late. If anyone is familiar with this situation, you surely understand how important this is and how frustrating it can be for the family's involved to see their loved ones spiral out of control.

My question to you guys is this: do you have any advice to help my website receive more exposure? I've been reading BHW for a few weeks now and decided to ask for some help and advice. Being new to BHW and internet marketing in general, Im not too sure where to start. Since this site is not designed to bring in money, I was wondering if my tactics should be different than what I read on these posts.

This is a wordpress blog that already ranks on the first page in google for a few different phrases (completely unintentional). My mom just keeps writing article after article which has surely created a ton of useful content so far. I would love to hear your advise on building backlinks or targeting keywords. Since there is no real 'sale' the only conversion point I could see is getting people to sign our online petition which will be delivered to the state legislature. I am also not sure if I am supposed to put the domain in this post, so PM me I guess? Again, still new, trying to learn and help some people at the same time. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I think social media would be a good outlet to help attract attention to your blog. A facebook page, a Twitter, and maybe even a youtube. This is something where organic SEO might not be the best answer, and that spreading the word using existing forms of media is probably the best idea.

Ah, thanks for the insight. We have a facebook account, but still need a twitter account and youtube videos. Will get to to work on these things tomorrow.

Ya I agree also help rank your page to the number one spot in keywords like "addiction help" or "drug help" that will help more people see your page to know what you are doing.
