Here is a plugin I found that lets you upload files, themes, and plugins without having to leave your admin area of your blog.

Hey guys, I can't get it to work. It won't upload zip themes or zip plugins or unziped folders. It may upload single files but what good is that.

Works for me, I had to change the pemissions of my plugins folder for it to work.

I can try that I guess I don't remember reading about permissions but if I can't upload a folder at a time it's a pain to upload a zip, extract it then go into cpanel find the folder.... It's easier imho to work from my desktop with firebug.

I think I'm going to pass for purely practical reasons.

That works to, but there is no extracting anything. Once the plugin is installed you just go to mange>uploads , toggle the button if its a file, theme, plugin, or manual path, click upload and thats it. If it was a plugin you uploaded go to the plugin page and activate it. I am always messing around with different plugins and themes, and now I don't have to open my FTP client to do it.

But be careful with such plugins, because they are huge security holes!

If someone hack your WP (backend),
he will be able to download all your (Server) FTP files
Similarly a hacker can upload some C, Shell etc files on your server and infect it.
etc... etc...
The WP DB-Backup Plugin is the same...sh...

It´s only my opinien,,
but i know some people where such plugins have brought more trouble as needed when they were hacked.

Thanks carlok, I read something similar about plugins like this but was unsure. I may reconsider using it the more you guys scare me. LOL.
