Couple of Noob questions ..
Hi,
I have been marketing for a while, using several blackhat techniques, but now im going back to college, im thinking of jumping on the whitehat bandwagon to earn some passive income!
I have done some keyword research and i have a couple of good keywords with 1800 searches monthly, low competition and a sugg.bid of $3.09 (whatever that means)
Im building micro niche sites, and providing unique content!
My questions are:
1. No .com domains are available .. will .net rank well IF the .com of the same domain is just parked and doing nothing? .. Whats your thoughts on .netc?
2. do - in the domains make it less likely to succeed? .. eg, xxx-xxxx-xxx.com
thanks a lot for your help!

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
1. yes will rank well, and better than the parked .com
2. no

Btw - make sure there actually are advertisers for your keywords before you get started.

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
I agree with the above. You can get anything to rank as good, in my opinion, as long as it has better onsite seo and backlinks. If it is a better site, it will do better.
I would leave the - out. I would stick with throwing an extra keyword in there or something.

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
1 - gor for the .net
2 - go for the exact keyword domain .net .com or .org and forget "-"
3 - Itīll be a matter of proper seo and marketing to get there. By marketing I mean a decent backlinking campaign.

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
I am not so sure about question 1 but I can answer question 2 for you. The - is not a negative in the URL. I have read a lot of posts here that says - is considered spam by Google but I have seen url's with many -'s in them ranking well for very competitive keywords.

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
1. Any kind of TLDs are good to go.
2. Always go for domain name without "-"
3. If there is no exact TLD is available consider that keyword as difficult one to rank.

Re: Couple of Noob questions ..
YOur Question was Pretty Much Answered but I Just wanted to Add.
If a Keyword you Want & Like is Taken eg. I want Pilates.com
It's taken so I'd just be "Creative" Add something/anything after the keyword.
Pilatesnow.com
pilates11.com
pilatesmastery.com
I Just think of & go with whatever sounds good.
