Default Please Help-Another Wordpress Installation Question

Hi All

I have looked on the board. I have before I posted this..just so you all don't think I am an idiot. I know there have been questions about wp mass installation before. This is what I need to do. I want to create many wordpress blogs. However, I want to do it on different domains. I don't want to use subdomains at all. Now I figure the best I can get is to be able to use add on domains, but anyone have any idea what software I could use? IF one even exists for this.

I have BlogMatrixPro and Mass installer, blog solution, you name it. They all work on the subdomains. I see there is something called WP ManagerDX, but I am not seeing if it is really capable of creating on the domains.

Additionally content or rss feeds are not an issue as I will not be using anything automated for that. I create my own content. So I am looking to just find a way to easily get wordpress set up and have my themes and plugins available but just on a mass scale.

Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help me?

Thank you in advance if you can or if you even try and you can't.

Lellandra

WP Manager will do the install on different domains, but I don't know if it will do it on add-on domains. If you have a reseller account and set up each domain with its own cPanel then WPM is the way to go.

You should contact them and ask. I read somewhere else that WPM is having problems with domains using cPanel PRO, so you need to find out which cPanel your host is running.

Well using regular domains is ideal. I just figured I wouldn't get lucky enough for that and the best I could get is add on domains. I looked at their info and I wasn't really clear if it was able to install on the separate domains. So you are sure about that?

I would love to get my hands on a copy to check it out. Does anyone have it at all?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

I can recommend that you install all your wordpress blogs via cpanel (makes it easier for upgrades later on also) and then you make one master blog which has all the stuff you want ... then use "wordpress cloner" to clone this blog how often you want to as many domains as you like ...

have done this with great success :-)

option 2: use wordpress mu - works great also

I am positive it will install on different domains one at a time, not sure about a mass install.

When I was thinking about buying it I asked if it could install on different domains, and even different domains on different hosting companies. They said that it could, but it currently didn't work with cPanel Pro, only works with cpanel 10 or 11. My host uses cPanel PRO so I didn't buy it. I asked them to tell me when they had the problem fixed.

I've only seen it shared once, and it was a real old copy. It might have some kind of call home or manual registration.

I started using Fantastico which is fast enough for me, so I might not buy WPM when it does work with cPanel PRO. I have to FTP my plug-ins and themes, but I can do that with one click.

Email them and ask, they always responded to me quickly. Edna used to hang out at the WForum, that is were I learned about WPM, but that was a WSO about a year ago.

Now that wordpress cloner sounds really interesting. That's exactly what I want to do, be able to have all of the info for wordpress...different themes and all the plugins I have acquired and might want to use available. Then be able to go into each individual blog and use what I want.

I am new to wordpress so I am not exactly sure what wordpress MU is..However, I am going to Google it now and check it out.

Thank you to both of you for your help. I have been uploading my wordpress blogs one by one and then the different themes, plugins, etc. It's time consuming. Especially, when what I really need to do is to concentrate on actually getting all the content going.

Thanks again,
Lellandra

i know what you are going through ;-)

I was looking for the exact same thing and solution about a year ago.

Do you install your blogs on subdomains of your domain?

Hi

No I am installing on a different domain each time. I actually never use subdomains.

I think catman08 was on track with the wordpress mu option.
for example, if your domain is cheapcellphones.com, then you will be able to quickly create blogs like apple.cheapcellphones.com
blackberry.cheapcellphones.com and so on. U just need ur host to turn on wildcards since ur not using subdirectory's.
Good luck

Thanks. Actually I am trying to install on different domains...not subdomains or directories.

I saw something about a wp auto installer which seems to be some sort of plug in. It looks interesting but the guys site and forum looked like it is not updated much so I am not sure what is going on there. Or if this plug in would even work for me.

I searched here but I am not finding it. Anyone ever use it?

Thanks
Lellandra

Here is the solution for all your problems
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=971693

There is one more thing, i will like to tell you. You can can install some blogs in different domains name but for mass creation you will need to use subdomains or directories.
as long as you install less than 50 blogs per domains you are ok. Some people are actually doing 100 blogs per domains and they are still ok. Myself i'm doing only 25 blogs per domain.

But if you are trying to make real money or some serious traffic from blogs, you need to at least 10,000 to 15,000 WP blogs. Will you buy 15,000 domains names ?

you might want to check out wordpress direct... i can't recommend it 'cause i haven't used it but it does quick remote wordpress installations.
