All other things being equal always opt for the .com extension.

It depends on what promotional strategies you are going to use. If you opt for SEO, then choose dot com as your domain. I heard that the Big-G favors dot com. Anyway dot com and dot net are at the same price if I am not mistaken.

If I were you, I would go for LaughReal*com for 2 reasons. The first one I have explained just now and the second one is this domain is shorter.

I like Humor Times better since it seems as it would be easier to remember.

I would use the .com domain. Not only it's much more brandable and you will not lose traffic due the .tld confusion in the returning visitors, but it also sound's hell of a lot better. And about google - don't worry. In my experience there is no difference in the tld from an SEO point of view as long as it's not a .info domain. Google has the habit to drop those from time to time.

from hxxp://w3.discount*domainsuk.com/articles/5/835/0

There are a few important facts that one needs to realize before they opt for a dot net address. Quite often when people need to commit the address of a website to memory, they will not remember the dot net and the first place they will check is the given address with a dot com ending. Many times when they do not find it there, they will hardly ever think of using dot net to repeat the search. That is a lost visitor and maybe even potential client.

What is even more worrying is that there is increasing evidence to suggest that an increasing number of people end up at a website after hearing about it either from a friend or acquaintance, or by seeing an advertisement on Television or hearing about it on radio or reading something about the site. When committing the website address to memory very few will distinctly remember the dot net address if that is the domain name that you have chosen.

Go with the .com

.info domains does not matter. The thing is that people who owns .info use them to spam and thats why they get dropped.

Even though I like humortimes more than laugh real, due to it being more brandy, I do realise that .com is going to be more powerful, in the long run. Because when people go word of mouth and say, "hey dude, go visit humortime, it makes me LAWL!", the recipient will probably type in www.humortime.com, rather than .net, and thus you lose out on that divisions of visitors.

Or a guy that came visit your site yesterday, wanted to recheck today, and goes "Hmm..what's that website again? Oh yeah humortime" , inputs in humortime.com, and finds your competition's site, which might be much better than yours. He will then go tell his friends about humortime.com, and cascade from there, making your lost exponential.
