I am having this same problem.....any suggestions or ideas?

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.
* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?
I'm sure username and password are correct.....Hostname is "localhost", I did not change it, according to the WP site most cpanel hosters use "localhost". The db name is what I named it when I created it.... I suppose I should contact my hosting provider and ask if the db server is running.....
Any Ideas??

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
Yeah I had this problem many times. It's pretty easy to fix. Log into cpanel then go to phpmyadmin
select the database that is associated with the wordpress
install
then loops for wp_options click (the first icon) when you hover over it will say
browse.
then the 2nd row will be the siteurl
click on the pencil icon and change and click save that should fix it.

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
@beelzebot & @Qball, you have some thing wrong there, wordpress couldn't connect to your db, first make sure the db name and password are correct, if you created a db user, make sure you've fully attached it to the db, and use the correct db user pass and user name.. or you can just use your main cpanel user name and password with the db without adding a user.. Make sure you did nothing wrong in wp-config.php.. Let me know...
@zb.ouykcuf, I have sent you a PM.
The whole process should be easy for everyone, but anyway let me know guys if you got any problems ..

I got it!!!
hgear- I used your suggestion- It was still at bugetingfinance.info - changed it still didn't work.
I didn't have the correct prefix (xxxx_) on the db user in wp-config.
Thanks MGS and hgear. I'm learning a lot here at BHW. Awesome bunch of people!!

@yuckysmurf, if you're sure you've followed all the steps, then some thing wrong with your hosting.. Try this first, go to the Permalink settings on your wordpress admin, and just save it again to regenerate the .htaccess file, let me know...
@beelzebot, dude, I've already replied to your problem, you did some thing wrong in wp-config, make sure the db info you set there are correct.. if you still can't do it PM me with all info and I will check that for you .

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
@yuckysmurf, What I meant with "some thing wrong with your host" is their server may have different setup and configuration.. than most other hosts, this can cause problems with some plugins/features there, permissions.. . hundreds here got this perfectly working and I my self used this thousand of times with no problems. The very few people here who got problems are either did some thing wrong and not correctly followed the steps or the problem might be from their host, anyway I'm here to help.
Ok please do this, go to your wp admin, and deactivate all the plugins there, to check first if there are any plugins that might be causing this.. let me know..

Yes I would like to know this also could you tell us how you go about createing the sql file.
I have WP plugins set up just how I like them and it would be great if I could eliminate the config everytime I make a new blog using my own settings.

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
hmmm so my site is now up and running, but does not have any of the plugins. One of the parts that I was most confused about in the process was which directory to upload into. I have hostgator and use cpanel so when I click on file manager it gives me the option to open: home directory, web root, public ftp root, or document root (for my domain). I'm pretty sure I uploaded and unzipped into the home directory. Do I have to upload the .zip file again and extraxt the plugins once more for them to work on the blog? I feel like a blind man stumbling through the forest who slowly feels the forest around him

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
So the big question is how to automate this? how to pre automate the activation of the plugin or settings to not log into 20+ sites manually, to click to activate and configure plugins.

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
Hi and thanks for this, appreciate it.
Wondering if anyone else has the same problem as me. I have already had my blog set up using this pack and indexed. However, it seems that only my sub-pages are indexed. The main domain and main blog page remains unindexed. Is this a problem with my SEO, or is my problem because I have set up my blog using this pack?

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
Hi
Thanks for sharing this!
I tried to install it, did everything as instructed, including renaming things in wp-config, but for some reason when I go to my webpage, i am getting the following: Error establishing a database connection
Any ideas why or how to fix it? Thanks for the help
P.S. I did check wp-config, it looks correct. I also followed hgear's directions, that still did not help
UPDATE:
Ok, I figured out the database issue, but now I still have a problem with the fact that no matter what I do in wordpress (which is not much, since I am a dilletante) the page stays the same and shows Not Found. Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here and a search bar.
HELP!

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
@beelzebot, glad you got it every working now .
@hngatino, yep the problem might be with your SEO, but just wait a bit, sometimes inner/post pages get indexed first.. .
@ictown775, yes you can upgrade to WP 2.9.1 version, just make sure the autoblogging plugins you're using are compatible with that version.
@Serzhant, what page and where you got that, please give me more details so I can help you..
@mrmidjam, you can upgrade wordpress or any plugin there, just use the built in automatic upgrade feature in wordpress, and the URLs can be edited in wp-config.php, let me know if you still need help .

My hoster doesn't offer an import function. Can I use this setup with just a db of my own that I create (like I normally do for a plain vanilla WP install)?

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
I know it might be too much to ask but is there anyway you can update the file to already include the new version? I'm having a lot of trouble updating and just had to wipe my whole root because the automatic update went wrong somewhere =/ I dont think I can do automatic update because I'm on shared hosting they have PHP safe mode on and it wont let me update.

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
everything worked fine,
the only think when i follow this istruction
- Go to phpMyAdmin within your cpanel, then go to Import and import the database file "Ready_db.sql.gz" inside the package
I get this error from my hosting:
No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration.
I submitted a ticket, waiting for it

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
Hi mgs,
Thanks for your Great share, everything was working fine throughout the installation but when I upload a new theme I got the following error:
"Unable to create directory /home/refluxca/public_html/budgetingfinance.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"
I have changed the site url by following hgear's instructions above, but the same happened, am I missing anything?

you need to change the permissions. if youre using goddady open their content browser or whatever, select the root directory, check write, and make it copy to all subdirectories for the duration of whatever youre uploading or changing.

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
Sorry for the late guys..
@Tantalus, you mean your host does not allow importing a db file within phpMyadmin ? I think you can do that just check.. importing/using the db is important, it has all wordpress and plugins modifications.. without it you'll lose the main advantage and you'll need to configure every thing your self .. .
@tuesday10, dude, it's super easy just give it a try .
@manolo12399, I believe something is wrong with your host/server.. the db file size is small it should be imported easily, what did your hosting support said about that ?
@tetsu, already replied to your PM.. just go to Setting » Miscellaneous Settings, in "Store uploads in this folder" make sure you have the default path there "wp-content/uploads" only. @4i4i78 & @unrealalex thanks guys for your help .
@unrealalex, ok, your question is important for others as well, first of before updating wordpress to the latest version, make sure you check Plugins, and update the plugins with the update message(in your case I believe you'll not be able to use this automatic update feature, so you'll need to update the plugins manually, deactivate the plugin, go and download the new version and upload it to your plugins directory using FTP, then activate it) now to upgrade your wordpress version, just download the latest version and upload the new wordpress/files using your FTP overwriting old files, and then just go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php, and you're done .

Re: Highly Optimized - Ready to Install Wordpress - For Your Autoblogs Or Any WP Based Sit
So I have a domain that is my friend's last name now that she got married and I have a boat load pf pics from her wedding. Could I use this highly optimised theme and plugins to make a wedding site for her?
Also i read the first few posts when this thread first began but have not yet checked back. Has anyone put up a mirror where the theme and plugins are in zip format to make them easy to install? I dont wanna do the upload by ftp nonsense part of it.

I'm not an expert at phpMyadmin or SQL in general, but I went all through every part of the app I could get to and I couldn't find any mention of an import function or anything that resembled it. If it's listed as something other than 'import' maybe you could clue me in. I just assumed that it was not a function supported by my hoster. It seems you need to specify an existing database to work with when loading phpMyadmin and it provides a button for exporting that db, but I can't find anything about creating a new db by importing one from another source.
As I said, I don't know much (anything, really) about this stuff - I just thought I'd try out this configuration, but if it requires sticking my hands into the gooey guts of SQL databases, I will need some help.
Thx.
