Default Hard Lesson Learned

I thought I had taken all the precautions necessary (changing passwords, etc.) but my WP blogs that I created to generate income for my sick granddaughter were hacked and destroyed. After the anger subsided (I can always recreate them from backups), I actually found the thread and the site where they listed my sites along with some others and bragged about taking them down.

At that moment I wished I knew how to destroy their hacking forum site but just like I found them, I was sure they would be able to find out it was me and I don't have time to fight a war with these degenerate, no redeeming social value, waste of life and breath individuals.

Now, back to redoing my blogs <sigh>.

Did you report this to your hosting provider?

Join some security forums, just google it, and learn some about site security.
Also there is a chance that your hosting provider accidentally opened few holes for those bastards to get in. Consider switching to another one.

Sorry to hear that, your blogs were using the latest Wordpress version ? also did you used any suspicious plugins .. ? it's not easy to hack wordpress itself but they my got to your hosting account and database some how .. .

Check with your hosting support as well to make sure this will not happen again .

Yes, mantrox, my hosting provider knows. Had to jump through a hoop or two to prove I was account owner so they definitely know. They were of the opinion that it must have been a script or plug-in that I was using that allowed access.

It is never a good feeling to be hacked. I have just finished getting a site back online that experienced a DDOS attack, no fun. Best to learn from it and move on, reconciliation rarely helps, since in all likelihood they might enjoy the cyber war.

Thanks mgs. I think most of the blogs were upgraded to the latest WP version. I'm pretty sure it was a suspicious plug-in, so as I am rebuilding I am being extra careful about the plug-ins I'm using.
