Huge WordPress Problem.
Not sure if this is the right thread to post this, sorry if it is not.
1st. wordpress Version 2.8.4
2nd. Wordpress EOS theme (directly from wordpress)
3rd. 2nd site different theme but same problem
4th. Plug'ns installed are AdSense Manager,Advertising Manager & Easy AdSense
Ok problem is Adsense, Adbrite, and others. I use easy adsense make code like align right or left with wrap text at lead-in but all i get ia a little box that shows where it is suppose to go(wrong size box by the way). Nothing shows up and the box stays the same no matter how big or small i try to make it. If I set it for right it goes right, left goes left but no ads ever show up on one site.
Other site the ads show up on fire fox but not internet explorer or chrome after i refresh the browsers all adds are gone for all 3 browsers. After about 5 or 10 refreshes 1 add will show up on 2 browsers but not 3rd. then ads show up refresh then gone.
No matter what they will not stay in place for long and will never be seen on all 3 browers at the same time but they do show up on 1 browser at a time. Tried 4 different computers nothing changes
All this is one 1 site while 2nd site no ads have show up at any time. Nothing not even adbrite. Adbrite will not work on anything not even text ads.
Everything is working fine on a 3rd site that is has nothing to do with wordpress.
Site #1 (ads never show up on all 3 browers at the same time and only show for a few minutes after 7 or 8 refreshes)
I went in deleted all adsense plug ins, have the empty area where the ads suppose to be. Ads not showing up. I see in page sourse that there is no adsense there so i guess that tells me plug ins are working (allowing the ads to show up) just it works when it want to. The ads show up for about 3 minutes every few hours on each browser 1 at a time never on all 3 browsers. Funny how they show up on internet explorer and chrome but not fire fox then hit refresh on all 3 then they show up on firefox only. Dam i do not understand
Site #2 (one with Ads never showed up)
Now thinking i have some kind of conflict in plugins since i have 4 or 5 of them, i went into content folder and deleted easy adsense and adsense manages. Now the boxes where the ads suppose to go are gone. How even i still have a huge adbrite box on side bar(testing purpose) but still empty of ads(3 days now and not 1 add) still no adbrite text links also.
What the hell can i do to get the ads to show up? Can i delete all plugins and install a theme that has the plug ins with it already?
Adbrite never shows up at all on either site but it shows up on the 3rd site. Not word press site but everything is working fine there but 1 amazon link.
anyway to fix this 2 weeks in one of my pages is on page 1 on google link 7 and get 0 clicks with 8 visitors a day lol site i bought 2 years ago (did not know anything at all) has like 50 pages out of 90 all high ranking

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
WP 2.8.4 installed trough fantastico have turned on the "not crawl by spiders" function by default and maybe from there ur problem comes. The Adsense spider cannot crawl ur site for keywords to display the ads.
If the settings are OK then try to put the ad code directly into the source code of the template without using any plugins.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
WP 2.8.4 was installed trough fantastico at host gator. Where do i check "not crawl by spiders" function default at? cpanel or wordpress dashboard. I looked all over the setting ares.
Thanks for getting back so fast. I was about to change the theme for the 6th time was thinking it had something to do with a theme for some reason.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
FYI, it is not recommended to install WordPress using Fantastico. Found this on the web when I installed mine.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
ok update. still not working I even did it manually and i get the box where the adsense is suppose to be at in the header but it does not get filled with ads. i used
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-1234";
/* 234x60 ezAdsense, created 11/25/08 */
google_ad_slot = "8050392339";
google_ad_width = 234;
google_ad_height = 60;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
with easy adsense on it is not working when i delete out completely there is no ad blocks (empty blocks) what so even i put in the code and i get the box back so that tells me it is not easy adsense fault.
However if i click on let WP-Direct handle it then it works and i get the adsense ads to show up (just tried it)
So question is what is stopping the ads from coming in with normal word press?
I am not planning on keeping word press direct it is expensive and i have not made .01 yet (if I ever do make anything then i will keep them)

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
I can't say how many times I've had to uninstall WP because I loaded it with fantastico.
Themes won't load properly, plugins don't work. Save yourself the bother do it manually.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
Ok..if you are seeing a the add box but no adds yet..it should be working.
If it is showing a randow add here and there it could be the devs adsense showing..that is of course if you left it at the default settings ( he gets 5% of the traffic if I remember right. The indexing google bot is not the adsense bot..these run separately..if your site is showing in google ..it doesnt mean that adsense has crawled it yet, it can take some time for it to come around.Seems like you can help this along if you validate your site with google..look in the google webmaster tools. Make sure that your robots.txt will allow the bot to crawl it.
/end random babbling from the sleeping guy

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
problem is i get the ads with wordpress direct. if i use wordpress alone it get no ads. I can let it sit for 2 or 3 days and the ads never show up just the empty box where they are suppose to go hell it has been 4 or 5 days i have never touched adbrite and it never showed up on any site that i have that is word press. My old php site has everything working i just do not know how to mess with it since i bought it from some dude form ebay like 2 or 3 years ago
The ad bot had to see it if i get the ads when i go through wordpress direct but hell they will cost a lot so i am not planning on using their service and i can not place the ads where i want them

If others are able to embed AdSense in WordPress, there is no reason why you can't. You may want to go to Google "WordPress" some more to find others with similar problems.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
Disable pop-up blockers if you use them.
Try making a new post, click HTML, paste in your ad code, and see if it shows up there. It should also show up if you paste the code into a sidebar text widget. If it shows up properly, it must just a problem with the way your trying to embed it (like a problem with the adsense plugin your using). Try searching Google for "how to put ads on wordpress" and stuff like that.
You could also try installing WP manually via ftp if you think that's the problem, although I have never had problems with fantastico personally.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
ok #1 it is not ad block i have it turned of and going through 3 different browsers (chrome,explorer,firefox) on 4 different computers.
#2I know how to put ads in wordpress. They are just not showing up. I made a new page started from the beginning installed wordpress manually and used orginal wordpress theme it still happens, I put it in html manually ant i get an empty white space where the ad is suppose to go ( if i was going it wrong i would not get the empty space ) just nothing ever shows up at that spot no ads at all.
#3 i checked the privacy and it is open to receieve from search engines and such.
#4 i can put the ad blocks on the side bar with no problems but again nothing ever show up to fill in the ads.
#5 this even happens with adbrite
#6 i deleted plugin folder and same thing happens, i installed plugin back 1 at a time still happens
The big #7 soon deactavite my wordpres like easy adsense and go through wordpress direct and manage my ads from there they show up(adsense anyway) and i get the right content. I made this throw away page and see http://shxtrading.com/ i put golf crap on here and when i go to wordpess direct google sends me ads on gold clubs and stuff
why does it only work through them ? If i had some settings or a conflict on then it would not work through them either. I have changed the theme now about 25 times with some downloaded from here and wordpress them selves hell it even does it with the welcome to wordpress default one

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
Huh. Well if it works on other pages then it could be the specific content you have... maybe it's freaking out because it doesn't know what to show.
Are you getting public service ads, or nothing at all?
Maybe you should try manually installing via ftp.
 <-- and what's with this smiley? I thought religion was a no-no.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
i went back and installed it all manually did not use fantasico i installed VIA FTP.
I am getting no ads at all, unless i use wordpress direct. It is not confusing key words or anything ,for example i made a golf one this morning for testing. I get no ads at all none 0
then i activate the plugin saying i will manage my ads from wordpress direct then the ads show up right away showing golf stuff like golf clubs and shirts. Just with reg wordpress the ads will not work not at all even if i put it in html they do not show up just an empty white box, no text no pictures no nothing. If i delete the plug in folder no ads not even the white boxes where the ads suppose to go. I only install easy adsense and white boxes come back but still no 0 ads that tells me problem with easy adsense so i deactive that and use just html and still 0 ads now that tells me it is not easy adsense but it is somthing that is blocking since the plug in is not working and the html is not working. i tried many blocks in case i have the code wrong like 1 at footer, header in post and side bars even tried skyscraper and squares . all the same nothing changes i try adbrite thinking it may be google problem well not it either still the same not getting any ads what so ever with wordpress nothing 0 soon as i enable plugin for workpress direct the ads show up (adsense ads)
it has to be blockage somewhere like some setting. but it works with wordpress direct. I have 7 or 8 running tickets at wordpress no answers and it has been a few days now . Host gator said not there problem
it is not the theme i have changed that over 20 times and it even does it with the welcome theme

Check if you have coded your CSS links this way:
Instead you should code:
Code:
url( http://<link to ads> )
The effect of the first is to show a blank space without showing any errors.
Incidentally, the first form is still valid in some sites and will actually display correctly. But for some sites, the second format is necessary. To be on the safe side, you should always code your hyperlinks this way. Of course, this means you cannot use relative or partial links with the second format.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
CSS is Cascading Style Sheets. You can see the CSS page for your WP blog in the editor. It should be style.css or something.

I just checked the CSS links. They're not the source of the problem.
I have seen also the blank space you were referring to. Assuming the JavaScript controlling the feed is indeed displaying/feeding something, I think the problem is coming from the outer div containers. Anyway, I'll check some more and tell you my diagnosis.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
I see a div container with "overflow: hidden". I don't know what's the effect of this setting. I'll check my reference book. This will take a while.
In the meantime, if anybody is reading this post, can this be the source of the problem?

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
well i have to continue this tomorrow it is late lol after 2 am thanks again everyone for all the input. Feel like i am 1 step closer
tomorrow i think i will downgrade to 2.7 and see if anything works i started at 2.8.4 and 2.8.5 since yesterday will not hurt to try just do not understand why it even does it with the welcome theme
by the way just seen a lot of people are having a lot of problems with there themes not working sense the update yesterday.. Mine seemed to never work lol here is the info
It was just announced yesterday that WordPress 2.8.5 has been released, which is considered a “security hardening” release. Here are some of the updates and fixes:
- A fix for the Trackback Denial-of-Service attack that is currently being seen.
- Removal of areas within the code where PHP code in variables was evaluated.
- Switched the file upload functionality to be whitelisted for all users including admins.
- Retiring of the two importers of tag data from old plugins.
If you’re wondering what the difference between a “hardening release” and a “security release” is, I don’t think there is any. The only difference to me seems that people don’t seem to complain as much about hardening releases as they do security releases.

It's still blank. But if as you said "WordPress Direct" plug-in has an effect, then it is not merely a display problem. Google's JavaScript for displaying the ads is somehow affected. There must be a setting somewhere for this.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
ok i do not know what i did but i been messing tings up for 3 or 4 hours now some how i got the ad to show up on fire fox but not on explorer and not on chrome. I am using the wordpress welcome default blue one. I switched themes about 8 times and it is working on 4 or 5 out of the eight but only on firefox.
No i have no pop ups on and this is on 4 different computers.
update after hitting refresh 7 times the ad shows up on explorer only not the other 2 it is acting like the other site now where they will never show up at the same time. I deleted all the plug ins and doing it HTML old school style

(Just thinking out loud.) Hmm. I better check the WordPress forum for any problems like this. It's hard troubleshooting problems where so many things can go wrong and interfere with the installation.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
yeah sorry i typed that before i realized what i did lol. Well update nothing changed. Found a theme i would really like to use but can not get that to work either. Even brand new theme and new fresh install back to 5.8 still not working so i give up.
I am about to delete the entire directory with all my sites and try to buy 3 or 4 already built or find some one that can build it if the price is right. I can not learn much sitting here fighting a never ending battle.
I was haveing a little fun at first till this crap happened.
I see people selling blog packages here i have to look into it.

Re: Huge WordPress Problem.
One thing I noticed about your site (from looking directly at the source code of the page) is the placement of the AdSense ads. They are at the beginning of the posts and seems to be integrated with them. Wouldn't it be better if the ads were outside like in between posts? Maybe the loading of the ads before the post is retrieved and then displayed immediately with and at the beginning of the post is the reason why the ads are not showing up.
