*NEED HELP* Laptop Screen Gone, Only S-Video but cant get to setting.. lol

like the tittle says, i have a laptop and the screen doesnt work.... the only way to connect it to a tv is via the S-Video.. but after i connect the cable i need to go to setting and activate it there.. but how can i go setting without the screen.. lol
so im hopping someone can help me out finding another way to do it... i heard something about using the same network and "hack" into the computer... but idk how..

Do you have an analog port on the laptop? IF you do, try a cheap cheesy monitor and see if the video card is good and hook it up that way. IF the vid card is burnt, 86 the laptop and save the good stuff before you do it.

I agree with diogenes. Just hook it up to another monitor, and adjust the settings that way... or just use an external monitor till your laptop goes. If it's worth it to you though, you could also just get another screen for your laptop. Once I found out the specs for my computer, I'd be looking on eBay for a suitable replacement.

Mine did this , first time sent it back to HP. Bad cable .

Second time it did it, Bad motherboad.

Hope its something simple.

yea mine worked fine too,hookrd it up to my hdtv and all was fine... still had no pic on lcd

Try pushing the button to make it brighter.

Nah...

Just practice the scenario on another laptop, then try it on your laptop. I'm sure you can pull it off without a screen. That or you will pull your hair out.

yeah again, how ima put the settings for the s-video without screen..

Well, if it has no VGA analog port, then it's probably as old as you are, so just 86 it.

Yeah you're pretty much screwed. I would take it to a shop and see if they can somehow boot it up through s-video.. I don't see any s-video to dvi/vga connectors anywhere. This should be you're calling to get a new laptop.

Or just wing it and wait for a shop to fix it..

Most of the time the cable is loose, the way laptop screens open and shut eventually loosens or disconnects the THIN ribbon cable. It's not too difficult to take the screen apart and check the cable. I'm a tech though so you may be scared shitless to do so.

My HP laptop has alternate commands on the F keys (F5, F6 etc.). I access them by hitting an alternate button (on mine it's called FN, located on bottom left of keyboard near Cntrl, Alt, etc), then I slowly toggle F5 until image appears. My F5 key has a tiny image on it that looks like a screen. Yours might be another F key.

Look at all your F keys to see if any small images are on them and see if there's one that looks like a monitor shape.

Basically this key toggles between the current screen and an external screen. BUT, I have only used this feature when connected to VGA. Not exactly sure if it will work for s-video.
