What do you white/blackhatters do regarding buying TLDs? For me, buying WHOIS protection is a must, be it a legitimate or illegitimate enterprise, because covering my tracks means a lot to me. What views do you guys have regarding this?

Yours, MajorProblems. :D

It's fair and square to do so. I don't want people to see my details.

I sign up with websites not even using my real name for my credit card. In the info area I put in wrong info too (yeh f*ck icann). On top of that I get whois guard too. This means if you get suit they probably won't know where to start besides an IP which they need a court order subpoena to get released. And unless you've hacked pent4g0n or N4SA they most likely won't release such info.

I learn from big time mistakes from others so i always use fake info when buying domain eventho i get free whois privacy at times. no matter what kind of whois privacy ure using when u do some pretty deep shit they can always uncover that privacy.

oh and i did it again just now.

missed the godaddy 2.19 .com offer so i went over to regi*ster.com to get a free domain using fake info. :)

i use namecheap for free whois privacy and its much cheaper afterwards too.
Ands its nice to know your email is safe.

I use whois + fake address, name and everything. Different country too. But its still a correct address lol, I just don't write a house number.
Its just an address close to where I once lived.

Surely it's hard to lie about your info when buying with the credit card, because the name on the card must be tied to the card number in some way?

@nirose namecheap looks like good value, better value than my last provider!

I remember buying a domain once, and waiting about 24 hours for the protection to kick in, meant my details were floating around the tubes, I was NOT happy.

Some just don't check for this as long as the CC goes through ;)
