Exclamation PayPal scammer demanding refund from eBook purchase?

I'm selling an eBook, and yesterday I sold 2 copies.
One of those buyers is filing a complaint to PayPal. He claims he had 'unauthorized access to his PayPal account'. This is a typical scammer. How do I fight this case?

Lol it happens to everyone that sells stuff like that. Your best bet is to just give him his money back and sell more ebooks

I'm just happy that i haven't had any do it to me yet.. i hope never... but you never know

Someone used a stolen account to purchase your eBook. There is nothing you can do about it as the person more than likely with the paypal account didn't make the purchase and they had money removed from their account. You can restrict yourself to taking payments from verified accounts only but the downside to this is you will drive away some legit customers who pay direct from CC or use unverified accounts.

I don't trust the fact that the Paypal account was actually stolen. I personally contacted the buyer and he's very short in words. All he said to me was "The purchase was fraudulent." When I asked for proof, he stopped responding.

Actually this used to be a 100% loss. Starting about two weeks ago though I started getting resolutions that said:

"we were unable to find any evidence of unauthorized access to this account"

and I've actually been winning about 50% of the disputes! I'd say perhaps PP started doing some sort of IP or cookie logging which is awesome because its bad enough when they want a refund because they are too dumb to follow instructions and take action but when they straight lie about unauthorized access that's pretty low.

That would make me lower myself to his level. He bought my eBook so he has to pay for it. I'm gonna call GayPal tomorrow and see what happens.

Oh for fuck's sake. I've made 3 sales and they're all claiming a refund. Is there any other alternative instead of Paypal that doesn't deal with this shit?

yea paypal really sucks.. When I use to sell on ebay, I'd ship the item only to find out a month later paypal had reversed the payment..

And the most frustrating thing is trying to get paypal to answer your email!! I think paypal emailed me back something like 6 months after the fact only to tell me basically I was SOL!!

This is the best mothod.
I was buying some "digital product" was easily scammed (my mistake) and found out that they don't refund "digital/non metareial items"
SO paste Digital item all over it

Or even better, maybe make them post "digital ebook" when they send you the money through Paypal in the comments or something.

Then you'll win.

#18 and #19, good points.
not sure how this changes things, but it seems Paypal is more or less prone to refund such claims depending whether a creditcard payment was associated with the transaction. just my perception maybe....

paypal used to side with the buy "scammer" all the time now they are actually looking into each case. I still lose about 90% though.

It's a fact that you could buy anything with paypal and get a refund easily. They got a lot of bad press about it
