Default Need help with windows xp

I have problems with it and want to reload the software. When I try to use my update CD it tells me that I have a newer version and won't allow me to replace/reload it. How can I get around this and reload the software using my cd?
I know there are some smart guys that will read this.

Bill

Windows xp home edition.
I just want to reload it and the software says I have a later version on my computer and won't let me reload it from the cd.

Thanks

This is because you have SP2 installed. Your original disk did not have this on the CD. You need to create a new Windows XP installation CD with Service Pack
2 slipstreamed into it or try a disk partition and install it on a new partition. The only other way is to reformat and do a clean install.

Quickest? Go to a torrent site and get a slipstreamed SP2 ISO (Home OEM version). Do your upgrade from there.
