Hey guys. I'm a US citizen currently living overseas. I haven't been back to America in 2 years and don't have a reason to return now. I want to open up a bank account but don't want to fly all the way back to do this. Is there a way for me to open up an account easily?

Apologizes if this has been answered already. I did a search and didn't see anything.

I would try netbank.com. As long as you have a SSN they should let you open an account.

I tried something like that few years ago where I thought I would be moving out of the US for a few years but never got the account, I never did move, but they said if you have SSN they'll get an account.

There are many banks (bofa.com comes to mind) that are "real" (not exclusively internet-based) that will let you open them completely online and mail you a package including a debit card, etc. You can fund your newly opened account via electronic funds transfer.

Get mail forwarding service setup somewhere in the US (be sure to pick a location that is near a Bank of America branch so they let you open an account) and apply online.

Should work fine.

I don't know about NetBank as they were closed down a few years ago. What are they like now?
