Default Residenting in Asia - EU passport - doing IM on laptop

I'm currently traveling Asia and would like to pick my IM business up again on my laptop. Right now I'm in Indonesia on a tourist visa, which doesn't allow me to work. However since so many Western IMers are living in countries such as Thailand I was wondering how I can do IM from here. Is IM even concidered work? How about the business man on holliday who checks his email or holds a conference call? In other words; what is work?

My question: can you do IM on a tourist visa yes or no? If not, how to proceed?

Thanks in advance for the help

As long as you work from your laptop and recieve money in your native country bank it should be fine. You cannot hire and undertake any locals/local activity. If you do then you will have to open a company and get residence permit accordingly.

You can, just don't talk to people about it. Don't do business with the locals, and always keep your mouth shut.

In terms of visas, the Philippines are the best country you can go to. You can stay there for over a year without doing a visa run. Also, they do not tax foreign income unless you're a citizen. In theory you can't do any work if you are on a tourist visa, but in reality they can't do anything to you. They don't even know what internet marketing is, you can just say you own a company in Europe that is currently being managed by your friend and you only collect profits and stay in Asia for a long vacation. But even if you tell them that you're earning money online, they probably wouldn't care.

Of course you can ... I've worked from Brazil, The United States, Uganda, Argentina, Israel ... I just get paid to my account, which I have a debit card for. I do IM from Spain now, but still get paid to my Norwegian acc.

The no work thing when you're on tourist visas means that you can't work for an Indonesian company (or start your own business there). To do this, legally at least, I imagine you'll need a domestic PIN number (social security), tax number etc.

Is taking the garbage work? If so then you might let somebody else do that

On topic. I think they're work policy means getting an offline job there. But that's just my opinion and common sense. So I think working IM is safe.
