Re: How do i use my version of windows on my windows vps?
I think you are confused about 'windows' on a personal computer and 'windows' as used on a server. I have seen this a few times. you signed up and as you had a home computer with windows XP/Vista...you picked the 'windows hosting' option.
as far as what your server runs and what machine you have a home? makes no difference, as you are just 'talking' to the server/hosting.
if your software will not run? then you must have a setup that is NOT LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Php). most 'windows server' setups are for running sites that use: ASP, .NET framework, VBScript, and Microsoft XML. some VPS/VDS use windows server to run the virtual machines, and install LAMP into the VPS.
99.9% of all scripts (wordpress, Joomla, membership site scripts) are going to be Php...so you need to get the right setup from the company you are using. let them know that you need a LAMP setup, and you will be fine.

what software is it? if its a web script you dont need to change the OS. if its some executable you probably still dont need to change the OS but if you do your host can probably do it for you. OR, tell them to hook up KVM over IP and maybe you can do it yourself.
