Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Bump.
I just spoke with some guy who said that if your site does not upload quickly....then google will penalize you....even if you are doing PPC.
Anyone hear more about this?
(I always thought that WP had pretty good speed?)

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Sorry to tell you this but WordPress is dead man, you have to move on...
That thing about Google penalizing slow sites is true too. WP has good speeds but it is now penalized due to certain Google updates to do with blog spamming.
The idiots spoiled it for us man. You need to find new ways.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
With something like 25% of websites on the internet being based on wordpress, I doubt that they really are going to penalize it specifically. I have tons of wordpress sites that rank perfectly.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Site load speed is indeed a signal for ranks in search engines.

If you retards think WP is dead then please move on. Leave WP for me.
There is nothing wrong with it. If your site is slow get better hosting.
WP is an outstanding platform.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Not sure if the others are being sarcastic. Word Press is far from dead. It's the most widely used blog platform and CMS.
The days of the garbage mini-sites that you can set up in 10 minutes on WP is gone, but with real sites its still going strong.
Also, for your question on banned templates. I have several blogs running ctr theme and none of them are banned.
Cheers!

Next Google will penalize HTML and all web coding, so their Adwords campaigns flourish when you advertise with your Google+ page.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Google doesn't penalize a site for running WP but it will penalize a site for slow loading speeds.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Firstly, this thread is like the tv commercial that the girl believes everything is true on the internet and that she is dating a French model. It is utterly rediculous........ All my sites are wordpress and they are doing great. In Googles page speed they are all about 85 -90 percent in speed range and I use a bunch of plugins. There are a couple themes that gave you high center for adsense which they were banning accounts on. This post can seriously go up for the dumbest thread of the year...

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Some of the cock and bull stories are actually because people d/l'ed cracked premium themes that were trojaned to provide certain negative user experiences, got deindexed (and are of course too paranoid to use gwt to see why), and then started crying on forums that Thesis or whatever had gotten their site banned.

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Google doesn't know what platform you're using unless
1) It says wordpress on the theme
2) The google bot can access the admin login page
3) You have an obvious WP site structure (which google probably doesnt even analyze)
Sites are HTML, CSS, JS and images to bots. Not PHP, not ruby or anything else. HTML is flexible and is platform agnostic.
Can you get penalized for using a wordpress theme? Yes. You can be penalized with your own custom theme too. Doesn't mean anything other than whoever makes the theme blows at making them. If its slow? Penalty. Trying to hide content from users to rank better in serps? Penalty. Doing something shady? Penalty. Annoying the user? Penalty. Slow load? Penalty.
You'll have the same problems if you copied the front-facing content and removed WP entirely. WP is not the issue (except for possibly speed), it's your layout.

maybe because of hacked themes with hidden links
as I said maybe, other folks will explain you better,
if you use regular themes (free or paid), I don't see reason why would google penalize you
just my 2 cents

Just wanted to say that in the head of every WordPress site it clearly states that the generator is WordPress. It is very easy to tell if a website is using it.
That being said everything else you mentioned is correct. I use WordPress for all my sites and have no problems with load speed or rankings :-)

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
Some plugins are very big and will slow your site from loading

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
such a stupid thread haha, ohhh mannnn. page speed does not play a significant role as u may think it would.
of course u gotta be pretty noob to where ur not letting their spiders load your site, images load is one thing, the text it can read is what matters. if your images take a while for loading then try & compress them (theres plugins like smushit) so they're smaller.
Here is a site that can help u check ur wordpress out and fix it's page load (do not use their plugin methods unless you know what you're doing, you can easily mess your site up with some of these plugins): http://gtmetrix.com/wordpress-optimization-guide.html

WP is great! This is the truth. If Google does not like it i will use another search engine!

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
one on my new websites its wp based and even without launch is already indexed
the others are ranking good so wp not dead at all

Re: Word Press Sites....banned by Google?
There is nothing wrong with Wordpress. I have several sites ranking perfectly fine, all running Wordpress. If anything, Wordpress with Thesis bas been some of the easiest sites to rank (due to on-site SEO and loading speed).
I have nothing but my experience to back it up, but until I read something else from a reliable source, I'll stickto Wordpress.
Just my 0.02$

Hey Bud....is there a vodka shortage in Romania tonight?
I know things are tough over there...but take a chill pill. OP said nothing about SEO being dead....NOR did it say anything about WP being dead?
Reading comprehension problems??? READ IT AGAIN.

Not that stupid a thread when you have about 12 members arguing the pros-and-cons of the subject matter now is it?
Not to mention the link you put up RANKS loading speed. So...you are directly contradicting your post point....aren't you!
Moreover, not everyone is a EXPERIENCED PRO like your self...now are they?

Yes...i guess is the point that should be garnered from the post. There are some WP sites that take too long to load...and apparently there is a relational factor between SEO and loadtime.
thanks Parallax.

Apparently there is some truth the OP concern....which was Load speed and SEO.
And yes...there are MANY wordpress sites that have slower load time because of plugins, etc. And yes....loadtime does play a factor in SEO.
