I want to try another homepage to split test, but how do I do it?

I have been meaning to try making a homepage that converts better for my offline business but am kind of concerned as I dont really want to lose my rankings. I also have some questions as to how I should do it.

First of all should I just make a new page and then in the settings-reading section change my new page to the homepage?

Also, will all the links built to the current home page be changed over to the new hompage or do I gotta do a 301 or some kind of redirect?

Anything else I should be aware of?

try Content->experiments under google analytics, there you can split-test your landing pages

So this is all I got to do? But what do I have to do in the back end of wordpress besides obviously make the page? Will my links to my old home page now be pointing to my new home page or do they need to be redirected?

Anyone else know anything about this?

if youre saying that the links point to 'yourdomain.com/home' then youve got a problem when your new home page becomes 'yourdomain.com/my-split-test-1' / 'yourdomain.com/my-split-test-2' etc

but aren't all the links to your home page pointing towards - 'yourdomain.com' because if so, the links will stay intact regardless of the change of content.

Yes my current page is mydomain.com. I already made a totally different page that is mydomain.com/home2. But when I change it in the back of my wordpress to be my homepage it will now be mydomain.com. Will the links still stay in tact? Well I just did it. I was between 2-5 for various keywords for my offline business. Im not gonna lie im a little nervous at the moment!
