I've been looking at laptops lately, and I been thinking about getting a 13" laptop. For me a 10" netbook seems too small and a 14-15" laptop seems way to big for extended travel. So for those that have them or used them in the past what do you think about the 13"(cm) laptop in terms of ease of use when it comes to typing compared to much bigger laptops.

I have a 13" Samsung laptop. Actually the main point why I took a 13" instead of something smaller is because I wanted a DVD drive and anything smaller didn't have that at the time. But for me the 13" is perfect for travelling.
I also have a tablet which I use when I travel but that's more for during the trip (for example in the plane/airport) and at the hotel I use my laptop more.

Netbooks are too small and fiddly. I have a Toshiba Portege which is just under 13" and less than a kilo and easily the most portable laptop Ive ever owned. Still prefer a PC for any major work though.

For extended travel is a much better option than the 10.1" one, but for extended work I like to use a 17" :)

Some also have a well arranged keyboard with large enough buttons to type, like the 13" metal-made toshiba's.

I have MBP 13" and I don't want to something else. Before I had some 15" HP and it wasn't very suitable for traveling.
I was a bit afraid if 13" display wouldn't be small for me, but the worries was unnecessary - I wouldn't buy anything else. 15" - too big, 10-11" - too small, 13" - the best display size for laptop.

I have a 13 mbp too. Late 2011 model. Perfect Size IMO

I bought an Asus zenbook prime. It's 13.3" and I love itttt. It's the perfect size for portability, and the typing is just as comfortable as a desktop keyboard IMO.

I'm going to get a custom built one, I think I can get a great one for around $1,500.

i prefer 14-15 its the better screen size for me

10 its really small 13 its medium size

Do any of you guys work regularly with large spreadsheets ok on these 13"?

I have an X220 Lenovo thinkpad running Fedora - it's 14 inches, and some considerations:

- spreadsheets, it's really fine.
- Google Adwords sucks on a small screen
- it's really portable
- I'm a big fan of the "nipple" mouse rather than the mousepad, which I disable. The advantage of this is that your hands are always ready to type so it's a bit faster. The keyboard is full-size and really, really nice to use.
- it has some other cool advantages - like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3r_kCEZTdA
