Anyone getting or thinking about getting a raspberry pi device? Looks kind of fun and brings back fond memories of the kit computers I had as a youth.

Yeah, their servers and the servers of their two suppliers got slammed hard after the release. Seems to be stabilising slowly but surely.
Six years of waiting, plus a $35USD piece of kit, will do that I guess. I like the concept of helping kids learn to code, and I like the concept of getting them into *nix rather than win or mac. And I love this concept:

This looks like the coolest thing I've seen in quite a while. The applications are rather extensive, being so small yet so capable. Considering the fact that it was built for educational purposes, it screams expansion when I look at it. For such a low price, you could literally build a workable server farm for $1000.

I have it here at my office after waiting for 6 months. Very nifty embedded device for $35 - but it is not what I'm looking for after playing with it.
I'm looking into apc.io board, as it has the serial interface. I am waiting to hear from my colleague who works for VIA in Taiwan for the undocumented pins that I need for gpio/I2C interfaces to allow for connecting to external devices.
Not BHW related, but it's good for engineers like myself who want to dabble into new toys.
If you're a real engineer, please PM or contact me/add me (yahoo/skype/google) for anything related to engineering issues.
