Win The Lottery Mentality Vs Training
This article is great, it is a really good example of why a lot of people who spend a lot of time trying to do IM never make it.
Give it a full read. It came from a marshal arts site dedicated to the Aikido style, so it refers to it often but use it as a metaphor for IM.
As internet marketers we see a lot of things that provide a opportunity for us to have the "Lottery Mentality". This will give you some insight on how to pass these urges and continue on your road to success.

So hunker down and work on one method at a time and don't move to the next lottery ticket of a method.
Decide what skills you are best at and figure out how to leverage them.
If you can't complete a entire method yourself then outsource, learn, or partner up with someone.

Re: Win The Lottery Mentality Vs Training
It's true. But this is already in people's blood, the desire to do things fast with great success. But as an overall advice of that story, it's that in the normal society is better to do the hard work. Sometimes smart work isn't so smart for others, so they will fail thinking that one day they will make it big, yet day by day passed through their life and will get really old thinking that they never had time to live their life. After all, it's not about taking advices, you have free will, nobody forces you, even if just the surrounds makes you to do it.

This may apply more to arts but marketing in my opinion is an art. A few may have natural talent but most of us don't. Most of us strive for the same thing and it's not really money but the freedom or things that money facilitates. Yes, no one has to take advice if they don't want to. They may do so by exercising free will. IMHO I have seen just as much bad advice presented well enough that people believe it as good advice presented not so well. I believe in being entirely subjective, don't believe everything you hear.
After that note here is another piece of advice for you to be subjective about. Take it to heart or pass it up. If it helps someone then great, my thread has done its job.
One piece of advice that I have seen work wonders is: Work hard, learn, leverage skills and surround yourself with the best to become the best. I think that many are after a quick fix and never focus. You can do things fast with great success but it takes focus and practice. A failure should be considered a success. If you can learn from your failure and continue to focus on your road to success, you are already ahead of the pack.

Re: Win The Lottery Mentality Vs Training
This thread has been a tipping point for me. I don't want to sound all converted and $hit, but from now on, I will devote time and energy into sharing more and being more diligent. Because you know what - you are right.
Up untill maybe a month ago I did think that I was winning the lottery and I didn't have to do jack $shit. Then I found IM and realised that winning the lottery is like a pair of rotten donkey b@lls compared to earning money with your blood sweat and tears. And I am not ashamed to admin that I was a foul pig waiting to be bestowed with honors that everyone owes me by default.
Let me just finish my post with this:
If I could go back in time, I would beat the $hit out of my old self for being such a spoiled bitch. That's all.

For thousands of years people had the dream to fly like birds....
After many years people finally started using their brain & technology to make something up! No one knew how, where or when... but now.... we got there!
But now it's already 2012, people have even invented Search buttons on forums!!!!! Woah!!! did you know?
