While starting my taxes a couple of weeks ago I noticed that I had a pretty good year last year and part of it was due to some good ideas I picked up here at BHW To give back a bit I decided to sponsor somebody for a Jr VIP spot. After a bunch of nominations and looking at more posts and threads than I had planned on I finally choose a winner.

Just sent him the money for the first year of a two year sponsorship.

Going to have some more stuff as well going forward. The sponsorship thread gave me a couple of good ideas on how to help some people out.

Really???

If that was my goal all I would need to do is post a bunch of free crap in the download section and it would not cost me anything and I would have all the thanks and rep I wanted.

I actually sent a PM to Pofecker so I could pay it directly and when he did not respond I communicated with two people who had already done this and both of them said sending him the money directly and posting it in the open forum was the way to go.

Hi and first off thanks to volund for this sponsorship and to the other members who felt I was a good candidate for it. It was quite the surprise to me and I really appreciate it and want to make that known publicly. BHW was the first BH forum I got into, and so it holds a special meaning to me. Many of the members here are true inspirations (WizGizmo, Yukinari84, proxygo, sweetfunny, andreyg13, meathead1234, loopline, GreyWolf, BTB, and apekillape are the first few who come to mind, there are others and my apologies for not thinking of them off the top of my head). volund is on my list as well now - not because he chose me, but because he gave something back to the community.

volund is not karma whoring or anything like that, I think he just wanted to announce the winner of the sponsorship so everyone would be aware of it (and perhaps hopefully to inspire others to think about ways to give back). Over my time here, I've tried to give back myself by offering things to people, and by helping newbies out. The things I've done were small (to me any way) but you never know what kind of plant a seed you lay will turn into. As I learned early on from Wiz, we don't blackhat each other, and we were all noobs at one time.

Also volund makes an excellent point about how he (or anyone else) could just up a tonne of crap into the download section to get instant karma...and we've seen how that has worked out in some member's cases (*cough* mogol *cough).

Obviously I could be accused of bias since I'm the recipient of his kindness, but anyone who really knows me around here knows I don't pussy foot around about such things.

Any way, many thanks again to volund and the community here.

actually as an independant observer, please be assured that I, as well as many others here in BHW, do indeed value your input, as well as though contributions from the top people you have mentioned in your post, (and others besides... blackhit, bigbuddy,Peter2002 etc...) this is where the TRUE AND REAL value of BHW lies, if only members absorb your combined content and posts, and actually DO something, instead of being negative etc...

In fact, the way I deal with negativity is simply to totally and completly ignore them - thus not giving any oxygen to feed off their own insecurities and negativity.

And what do i have to be jealous about? I am already Jr VIP, i already make a good fulltime living online and travel the world (currently in Asia) and i even bought the OPs service in 2011! And many people in including myself could donate Jr VIPS so would i be jealous if i can do the same?

Well it looks like I made a good choice anyway from the comments. Honestly the whole thing was a lot more work than I thought it would be so I am glad I did not end up with a bunch of "why did you pick him" posts.

As far as Bestmate goes while I have to admit his initial post annoyed me a bit at first I can understand the point of post and we are all good.
