Report him to the affiliate network and move on.

That's definitely a idiot! That's the easy thing to do is report him but i'd look to go even further just to mess with him.

YOU got hacked and you worry about backfiring? Will that make you more money?
By now at the very least, all your indicator LEDs should be +ON and make you scream inside.
Here you go:

I will not only contact his affiliate managers, but also the company in question, and ask them, to make sure their affiliate managers take more care

How about you take some more care of yourself and not get hacked in the future?

Re: This has got to be the biggest idiot ever
I suggest to check your plugins if you're using wordpress. I had this happened to me using a paid cloaking plugin. My initial impression was my site was hacked. But after disabling all plugins, I was able to isolate the problem and realized that cloaking plugin was the culprit. Nothing intentional by the plugin developer but it was the algorithm they're using to cloak the links since I'm autoblogging. It's been fixed since.

Re: This has got to be the biggest idiot ever
I wonder though, if someone is that stupid I mean.
How many hacked websites would it take to ban an account?
Just wondering.

Re: This has got to be the biggest idiot ever
How do you know it wasn't a hacker that wanted to attack the affiliate marketer? Seems like a fast rush to judgment by the OP. Maybe this guy has some enemies that think it's funny to hack sites and drop his affiliate link in there so he gets blamed. Unless you have more concrete proof the aff link and the hacker are one in the same I suggest you don't make assumptions. Maybe the hacker will find your aff links and drop them all over unsecured wp sites so people call you an idiot. Just saying....

If the hacker is that stupid then it means that the website owner is even more stupid because a stupid hacker is most likely a script kiddie.

Re: This has got to be the biggest idiot ever
ShadeDream, it was sort of a rhetorical question.
I wouldn't know how many websites it really takes so that's why it is sort of rhetorical.
What I do know is that this can be abused in very evil ways, that is why I doubted someone was really this stupid.
The post above yours by kvmcable is what I was getting at but I didn't want to give so much detail.
I wouldn't call the OP stupid for getting hacked though. You have no idea at all of what he did to prevent this. Even if he is blaming himself for getting hacked in the first place.
I didn't read anything about storing passwords in plain text. Now that would be stupid.
No offense intended.
