How do you defend yourself from competitors?
Ok folks,
I am gaining reputation in a particular niche and G seems to like me as an authority. I have been working hard for the last months on my site writing my own articles so I am proud of this.
Unfortunately, because the niche is untapped and I am pioneering it, I am getting copycat bloggers literally trying to imitate what I am doing. I was expecting this to occur at some time and now I need you guys' help (I hope the help I gave you on the Truth about Abs is useful!).
I know quite a few of you are authorities in your niche so how do you go about protecting yourself from competitors who copy your ideas? Both white hat and black hat (but playing by the rules, no hacking websites). This is what I have done so far:
1) I emphasize on my site that I am the expert and I write unique articles that back my claims.
2) I have submitted to several blog directories.
3) I am going to start guest blogging (any tips or advice?)
4) I use G Webmaster Tools so that I leave a footprint of my site on the internet.
5) I am a Google Author but have yet to see any benefit of this. At least I leave a footprint.
6) I have taken down with DMCA notices those who copied my articles. I keep an eye for anyone doing this and will act with determination to fuck them up.
How do you guys go about defending yourself from competitors? Tips, advice, comments, opinions all welcome.
Thanks.

Are they copy/pasteing your articles and such?
I did get a gew copying my articles from autoscrappers but I sent a DMCA notice and G deindexed them (I was so happy when I saw the DMCA notice warning on the their SERP).
My main concern is people coping my idea in the niche. I set up my site specializing in the niche and have had a couple of guys juming in into the niche. Fortunately, they are some punk asses with no clue about the niche but they got inspired from my idea and jumped in. I am expecting more fierce competition in the near future so I really want to cover my ass as of now.

It was bound to happen and it sucks but all you can do is keep charging, you've already got the jump on them.

I have one competitor. Luckily for me he isn't CL savvy and can't get many ads up. Think he gets ghosted a lot.
