Indians, don't use vccs in your paypal
Alright, so my 4 year old main paypal account just got permanently limited because of this reason: "03-Feb-2012: You PayPal account has been permanently limited because too many credit cards have been added and removed from your account."
Indian account holders can't pay using their paypal balance, I don't have a credit card, and as you might already know, paypal doesn't accept indian debit cards, hence I was using my hdfc account to create and add vccs to make payments. But I might've hit some internal limit and..well, I got permanently banned.
I'll try calling them tomorrow since their offices were closed for today, and see if I can get my account back. I'm also going to the bank and threaten them to give me a credit card or I close my account.
I'll be opening another account, ofcourse. If anyone could advise or help me in that regard it'll be much appreciated.

Re: Indians, don't use vccs in your paypal
banks will give you credit card in india against a fixed deposit opened with them as many of them are wary of giving to new clients without a track record.

yeah, you could either get a secured credit card or use icici's b2 account, works great for me

Others have given the required info , but i am interested in one thing, how were you able to use HDFC VCC with paypal as they are single use VCC and you could only do verification with them and could not make payments.

Your answer is below. Getting a credit card is not easy for a 19 year old with no "salary", and when bankers ask you "How do you do that? Can you teach me?" on telling them that your source of income is online, you realize you're not getting one easily.
I'll try and talk my dad into getting one, he prefers paying for everything by cash and doesn't even have a debit card.

The only bank that does that here is Axis Bank, and their charges are far too high for a credit card.

I've looked into the icici b2 account, but it's not available in my city.

You don't need to verify them to make the payment. Just add and go
I'll go to the bank tomorrow and talk to them, lets see how it works out.

Re: Indians, don't use vccs in your paypal
Good news, I got the limitation removed.
Dear *,
After further review your account has been found exempt from our credit card registration limits. Your account is fully reinstated and can register additional cards.
Thank you for using PayPal,
The PayPal Team
The first guy I called was a dick, I hung up on him. The second person I called referred me to their limitation department, and the person there was a sweetheart. Reviewed the account, and on explaining that the vccs I added were from my own bank account, removed the limitation on the spot. Also assured me it won't get limited again even if I add more cards, not that I'm gonna risk it.

Made me lol. why would they give you CC if you put threats on them? Best advice I can give you is just go to HDFC bank and deposit an FD worth of 1 Lack they will issue you card instantly.

It was sarcasm, ofcourse.
I've had the account for over a year, and the account has been pretty active. The only reason my CC eligibility hasn't come is because I have no "salary".
As for making a FD of 1lac, Again, I'm 19, been earning since about 2-3 weeks, where do you expect me to get that? I'd much rather make a FD in axis bank of 20k and get one from there, but I need the hdfc bank vccs and I can't have them both if I make the FD.

Re: Indians, don't use vccs in your paypal
Hey, you can get a CC without any income proof in India. All you need to do is have a FD in that bank, they give you a CC with credit limitation of 80% of the amount in FD. ICICI gives this, so do many other banks.

Here's the phone number. Call via a USA Proxy and Google Voice - it isn't toll free.

Do you know what a virtual credit card is? It's a one-use-only credit card. So no, I can't make a virtual card that I can just keep.
