    If you sell on fiverr you know what I mean. People are such assholes and expect you to do insane stuff for a messily $5. I spend about 3-4 hours helping this guy out, trying to be nice and this is what he says:

    Yeah it's ridiculous what people expect for $5. Granted don't go to Fiverr for really elaborate or complex things.

    I go for basic articles, free trials, and Xrumer blasts. And as far as I'm concerned they're all worth $5.

    I have never minded working on fiverr. Im able to normally keep my time down low enough to make the $5 worth it. You'd think though with the way people treat you that they were paying you hundreds of dollars.

    I have a BST here on BHW that retails for about 20x the stuff on fiverr and the buyers are so amazingly respectful and courteous it's insane. Like night and day.

    I think your the one who looks like an asshole. The guy gave you some criticism because you didnt do a job the way he instructed you to do so. And your response, rather than address the issue. Was to insult them and use foul language.

    If this is your approach to life, perhaps you should do something that doesnt need any customer interaction.

    it wasn't the best thing you could do, even if you're convinced to the contrary, you can't treat customers like that, plus you can get yourself reported which may result in a suspended account

    however i can understand you at the same time, that's why i only have push button gigs which doesn't require more than 1-2 minutes to deliver, so if a buyer asks for a refund, i don't care much and i do it w/o thinking it twice
    why?
    1. it doesn't worth the time you need to put into the dispute procedure
    2. chances fiverr doesn't decide on your favor, so you wasted your time
    - order gets cancelled by fiverr, buyer can't leave feedback
    3. if fiverr decides on your favor for some odd reason, you'll have your $4, but buyer can and will leave a negative feedback, which is the worst thing that can happen with you on a place where people decide upon feedback
    - order marked as complete, buyer can leave negative feedback

    you can loose 3 things with disputes:
    - time (always)
    - money
    - reputation

    and 3-4 hrs work for $4? i don't think it's worth at all regardless which side of the planet you reside on

    Fiverr itself is operated by retard guys. I have simply wrote them an email around a year ago where I have just included "wtf" and they banned me since then I never visited the crappy site.

    I'd side with the OP because of this:

    If he'd said it outright, or without trying to help the guy out, that'd be wrong. But if he spent 3-4 hours trying to help the buyer, and after that the buyer is that rude, it's not worth it for $4, or even more. The customer is not always right, sometimes you have to fire clients as well.
    This service rocks..

    I agree with OP - The guy who came up with the absurd statement that "The customer is always right" was an inane, uptight anal retentive, boot licking asshole, suck up, do anything for a buck dumb ass who obviously was never a consultant or performed any kind of freelance work.

    The customer is absolutely NOT always right. That advice might be okay for some 19 year old pee on checking out the cattle masses at "wally world" but as far as real world consultancy (which is what most Fiverr gigs really are albeit extremely low paying) go, that's just some ass kissing BS that some buck hungry merchant came up with. People like that would pimp out their mom for .97 cents + sales tax, are totally devoid of self respect and morally bankrupt.

    So yes I disagree. I won't allow any client to piss on me for $500 let alone $5. My integrity is worth more and since they are not the only business in the world, if they expect me to lean back and let them drop into my mouth and smile I think I can get along without their money.

    Of course that's just my opinion and just like assholes, we all have them so when it comes to doing a job for someone who is paying, I demand the same respect that I give. If they or anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss my opinion.

    i had people buying gigs without reading description and expect to deliver worth of $100 in less time then what you mentioned in your gig.

    i just ask them.

    hope you get my point and we can mutually cancel the order as it was your fault of ordering blindly. "most of the time works or put fiverr team on it.

    don't offer something which takes you hours to complete.
    i don't like working my ass off as soon as someone order clock is ticking so
    my gigs are something can be delivered in .doc .zip .mp4 file.
    hope you get my point here. something that takes minutes to finish.

    Its not about taking sides. Its about how to conduct yourself in a respectable manner. Responding to feedback like the OP did isnt going to win him any more clients. But if he had responded in a more professional manner, things would be different. Example:

    "I am truly sorry that we got our wires crossed. As you can see from previous feedback, its not something that has EVER happened before. As a gesture of good faith, I will give you a full refund and you may keep the video I created for you. I welcome your business in future and I can assure you that there wont be any mistakes. Good luck to you"

    Now, doesnt that seem like a more professional way to deal with the situation?

    It is not how you deal with the successes, it is how you handle the failures that defines your success. If 80% of your buyers are happy and you obsess over that 20% that will never be happy no matter what you do...well, you are going to fail. Especially, if you let your emotions wreak you.

    I've noticed that there are certain buyers the complain and one in particular called me the worst gig on fiverr (despite my reviews). I wanted to say 'lick my fuckin' balls, asshole', but I've put a lot of work into my rep on fiverr. It takes months to build a good rep on fiverr, but only minutes to ruin it. Letting one buyer control my service like that is a bit short sighted. So, I thank them for their business and refund their money and cancel their gig (and have their negative feedback removed). If they are running some scam to get $5 of service for free, so be it...it will not last long.

    Believe me, when I get an order from buyers who don't give me the right info for their gig or they make these outrageous demands...I just look at it as a challenge to my character. BTW, I noticed buyers from certain countries tend to complain more than others. So, when I get an order from them, I make sure the understand what they are getting ahead of time...and most of all I treat them like they are spending $1000 and not $5. Who knows, maybe that $5 is like $50 to them (exchange rates, cost of living, wages, who knows).

    The point here is not the $4 I earn per gig. Its the ability to charge for upgrades...that is where I make the majority of my profit. If they spend the $5 and they really like my work, they come back and become repeat customers...and they are more likely to trust me and buy other gigs or upgrades.

    That's the problem of offering a service like that. This is exactly the reason I haven't taken the route of designing "free websites" for businesses because most of the people are going to want it done their way, and will keep changing their minds. Too much hassle in my opinion.

    I sell design services in fiverr and this has happened to me number of times... udgraphia. com/rdes is my profile and I do the best I can for $4 but still people want more!!! come on buyers, If you want more you gotta pay more... And I ve also come across few buyers (redfax1, chosen11, and more) who payed me 2 or 3 gigs more for good job!!!

    I agree I should have been the bigger man about the issue and not responded like I did. However, this was after several attempts to please the guy and having him continually talk down to me and being insanely disrespectful. Disrespect breeds disrespect. I am ALWAYS very polite and accommodating. I guess this was a build up of being a polite and submissive to rude buyers in the past.

    Exactly, but in the end you displayed weakness by dragging yourself down to his level. Its all good if your doing it privately. But your feedback response is public and people will judge you based on what they read.

    The buyer was NOT polite. His "comprendi amigo" was an insult which in the US means you're a brainless nobody from south of the border, and that phrase made the OP retaliate with anger. I'd do the same -- except I wouldn't be as polite as OP.

    If somebody is rude or threatens my reputation, I just ignore, I never answer questions about my gig, as these are 99% tyre kickers and once you answer once, they will keep pestering, If somebody has a real grievance, then I deal with it politely, but if they are just assholes. let them do as they want. If they want a refund, let them raise it. And let fiverr handle it. I wouldnt even bother, fighting it. If they leave a review, take the money and buy 4 gigs, and bury their review, contact a few good clients offer them a gig for a good review,

    Rather than make any comment on his review, let the nixt lot of reviews repudiate him, and his statements.

    Finally if they really piss me off. Its not so hard to find them, and return the favour, threefold,

    The "understand plain english" and "comprendi amigo" parts are probably due to a uhm, "seemingly ethnical display picture", right?. It sounds rude to me... But yeah, don't lose your temper like that, just refund. Remember it's over less than 5 dollars, and the damaged rep could be worth way more.

    Edit: I see equalizer thinks along the same lines. There were no replies after Rakoom's when I opened the thread.

    Yeah.. I gave up on the video gigs to focus on my secondary accounts/backlinking gigs (my CPU was better utilized for that), so you'll probably get a few more video orders coming your way (though I heard that some people started to get reported/taken down for a few VH resells - there were a few posts at the VH forum with people boasting about it for a bit before the threads were deleted)

    Creativity is in the eye of the beholder and sometimes people just wanted me to move things up or down a 'few pixels'. It got a bit annoying. One of my common complaints were that the videos were too high quality and they wanted me to re-render, or they'd give me negative ratings. Some of the logos I received were quite pitiful. Also, I got some rather low quality white backgrounded-jpegs and they'd get pissy if I couldn't somehow increase the quality of them, in my gig.

    I had 1 person order 7 gigs from me and 1 of them was this horrible quality pic that I ended up remaking for him as he was getting annoyed with the quality outcome, in the end he asked for a copy of it after he gave me all positive ratings. -___-;

    Anything I buy on Fiverr I treat as a throwaway. As in, if I don't get the promised service or if it's not exactly what I expected, then no big loss, only 5 bucks. If it's delivered as promised or overdelivered, then I'll leave good feedback and order again. I don't even bother complaining, not worth my time.

    Same thing on the seller side. I'd rather just offer a refund and move on. Doesn't make sense to waste time arguing over $4 profit.
