Default Just lost my 4th job in the past 5 months

im super stressed, just lost another job bcuz i couldn't afford to even get to work smh my plan was to stick it out in any little job while i build some capital to invest in my IM ventures but its not easy and to make it worse its almost impossible to come by a regular job here in NY with normal salary and once again I'm in a financial crisis. arrrrghhh .. really thinking of doing some not legal stuff with some of these IM things i learned over these years for some short term capital

Finding 4 Jobs in 5 months is hard enough, especially in NY... at least you are doing something right. Try to find one closer and maybe search for one that offers a signing bonus.

well i was kinda exaggerating with 5 months lol but in 2011 i first two where telemarketing jobs where i was absolutely miserable sitting with that stupid headset on my head all day listening to peoples bullish!t and 3rd was a local marketing company where i would go door to door to business and sell them internet marketing. i lasted the longest there and made some decent money but not enough to cover the bosses investment in me so i ended up getting fired.

I can put you on a Pay-forPerformance appointment setting gig if you need work, but you'll be back in that dreaded headset making calls. That being said, it's better to be miserable than homeless. Ping me if you want.

What a load of crap. How is a sales job not "real" because your only form of compensation isn't a wage?

There are millions of jobs out there where commission or a bonus is part of your total compensation package.

Commission only works for people who are actually good at what they do and worth employing. The employee takes on an element of risk, and in return makes more than they would on a wage (assuming they are good). If they suck, they don't get paid. I think it's a great model.

Some of my team work commission only and they make pretty good money... I guarantee I pay them more than any "guaranteed wage" job would. Go ask them whether or not they consider it "real".

@ OP - it doesn't sound like you lost any of the jobs, it just sounds like you thought you were too good to do the work so gave up on it.

Can't afford to get to work? Sell some shit on ebay to pay for the bus. If you think "working 14 hours a day" is hard, then IM probably isn't for you. Most of us worked like that for a year before we started making anything that would resemble a full time income.

Don't mean to be harsh, but you came here looking for sympathy and it really doesn't sound like you're prepared to put up with crap short term to make it in the long run.

right now my plan of action is to blast craigslist with work from home job ads and follow up with leads and send them into my onlinepaydaysystem dot com funnel where i get about $80-$100 per signup i never really had any success with it but i know someone who says their doing consistently $1k/ week with it so I'm gonna give it a shot. if not, then my other plans of actions can't really be advertised online lol.

dont get me wrong, 14'hr days is not considered overboard for me, but when you go 14 hours daily without making a dollar is the hard part for me. but i also know that %100 commission jobs can outweight regular jobs because i used to also do rentals in the city and i would have huge paydays whenever that would be but it was too unstable for me. if i have an opportunity to work my worth and get paid on commissions i would work until i pass out, so please dont take me as someone who does not know how to appreciate something good

If you find that doesn't work out as expected the offer stands. I wish to luck.

I'm not saying you don't know how to appreciate something good... I'm saying you don't seem prepared to get through the crap to get to the good part.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Even if it's a shitty telemarketing job - yeah, it sucks, but it will pay the bills temporarily. You have to talk to idiots in ANY level of business, don't assume that it gets easier once you move up the ladder (if anything, it's worse). Once you have a solid foundation you can start some IM on the side. Please do not try to make a living from IM when you have no other income, it will only put more pressure on you and end badly.

I tried looking up your website but it sent me to a godaddy page. I can try and help you fine tune what you're doing, as this is similar to what I do. Shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do.

your in Brooklyn, start a service oriented biz, cost you a few bucks for printing materials. print some fliers and post them all over Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Flatbush, Bushwick, East New York, Red Hook, Sunset Park, and Borough Park you can outsource once you get some cash rolling in.

I know times are hard all over but you need stick it out, you are living in a big city, there is money all around you.

if i were you I would start a messaging service, post your fliers in the not so good neighborhoods and watch the dirty money roll in.

    good luck.

I also have to agree that commission/performance/bonus type jobs are definitely great and "real" jobs. If my friend didn't get me a job at a tech company a while back, I'd probably be dead in a ditch somewhere.

The simple fact that it's performance based is what motivates me to work everyday. Every damn dollar counts, and I don't care how hard I have to work. You need money to make money. It is that simple.

As I understand many barstaff/servers in the US get paid a few dollars an hour and their income relies very heavily on tips (which effectively a form of commission). If we assume that without tips the server can't pay their bills with earning any tips, would you still consider that a job?

    Here's another one for you:

You and me work in the same company. We both get paid $10 an hour (guaranteed wage, no commission). I don't do much work and aren't great at what I do. You are great at your job and work hard.

Would you consider that fair to get paid the same amount? Or would you prefer to be earning commission for the extra work you are doing? I bet you'd be the first to complain about it on a flat rate.

My sister is a server. Where we live, she makes $2.13 an hour, on the basis if she doesn't average at least minimum wage they will compensate the difference. I don't think that's a bad proposition. If I had to work for no guaranteed wages whatsoever though, I'd have to pass. The thing that would worry me is what if it's a crappy product that doesn't sell well? Commission based positions can go either way. Around here though, almost all commission based jobs have a (low) base wage.

If you want a quick job, why dont you offer services. Write 2 500 word articles, for $6.

People will go nuts for that shit. That could land you a boatload of orders/cash and you should get your feet back on the ground.

Shits hard man. Let me tell you a story my parents always told me. When they first moved to America, they were broke as hell. Especially with currency moving from a poor country to USA. My mom was pregnant and walking in the snow to save like a quarter or two for the bus.

My dad used to work at a newspaper stand and had to bring a shitload of newspapers like hard labor into some huge buildings.

Hard work always pays off. 20 years later, my parents are making a 6 figure income, and I help them as much as I can by marketing our family business for free.

Moral of the story is, you gotta grab your sack and work with the opportunities that you are approached by.

    /rant (sorry)

Shits hard man. Let me tell you a story my parents always told me. When they first moved to America, they were broke as hell. Especially with currency moving from a poor country to USA. My mom was pregnant and walking in the snow to save like a quarter or two for the bus.

My dad used to work at a newspaper stand and had to bring a shitload of newspapers like hard labor into the world trade centers.

Hard work always pays off. 20 years later, my parents are making a 6 figure income, and I help them as much as I can by marketing our family business for free.

Moral of the story is, you gotta grab your sack and work with the opportunities that you are approached by.

    /rant (sorry)
your def right, stories like this remind me of my mother when she just came to this country, she had it really hard herself (working manual labor 60+ hours/week for "$30 dollars " while pregnant with me, she always tells me) and it makes me ashamed of myself at the same time that i can't be as courageous sometimes . I guess i got a ways to go but i like to think I'm always prepared for that challenged.

but that would have to be $3 per article with the method you mentioned and at least $100 articles/week to compare to a normal full time income, not sure if i could do it but def would consider it if my other options dont work out. i would def need a dragon natural speaker in that case lol

Yeah man thats the spirit. You dont need any tools. Just a computer man. If you do 2 500 articles for $7/8 i'll tell you what I will be your first customer.

Basically 3.50 per article, dish out like 10-15 articles a day, thats a $1000/month income you generated. Should be good to get your feet back on the ground and maybe start some new projects. Anyways, its always easier said than done, but always make sure you have some motivation.

Anyways, I do wish you the best of luck. Remember that quote from Titanic, "A real man makes his own luck."

if you write articles for other people 14 hours per day, you will make $100 easily .... don't take me wrong, it's boring and it sucks donkey's ass, but it's the easiest way to make some money fast

then again, $100 per day when you're living in NY isn't something to brag about

dude! head over to England, the British tax payers enjoy handing out half million pound homes for free, giving them over £30,000 benefits a year... AND you get to watch Jeremy Kyle Show!

BUT.. there's always a catch... they want to cap the benefits at £26,000... so I wouldn;t bother...

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you were a bum but seeing the kind of jobs you had I think you chose jobs that are not in your skill set.

A commission only position does not work for everyone... it happens to be the only way I would ever work off line again. The last time I had a job was in 2006 and although I had a lot of 0 income days, I had a lot more that were not 0 and my income was just over 200K.

The previous year was just a tad over 180K.

Both of those years I had a fair amount of no paycheck on pay day but since I am so cheap that had no effect on our lifestyle.

7878 offered you something that I would think could convert for you as I know some of what he does and offers a very good product.

Patel had another super idea as to writing articles and even offered to be your first client.

Marcuskona's idea of starting a service could generate revenue rather quickly also.

Since you know CL, you could post in the real estate services section offering to place their signs all about Brooklyn... the term they use is bandit signs and a lot of the independent investors outsource that sign placement for between 1.50 and 2.00 per sign placed.

A cleaning service costs about 100.00 to start up and commercial clients are not hard to find and easy to keep if you are reliable.

If you know wordpress you can get some clients by offering a free website and they just pay the hosting of 19.97 a month. You can set up a WP site in just a few hours and have a monthly residual for years... get 100 of those clients and you would not be doing too badly and you can offer SEO to them as an add on.

Just some ideas to get you thinking and hopefully you'll get something going and be in a better financial spot in just a few months.

This thread amazes me- IM is 100% commission, I would think all have a mindset toward that- that are here...

@ the OP- I know what it is like to lose a job and have a hard time finding a new one. I know all to well, and this is an understatement.

I would suggest to assess your language and mind set.
some of what you say and how you say it , frankly scares me.

I am recovering from some problems of my own, and the way you put some of your message out there has a familiar ring. you need to stay positive.

It will be key regardless what your next source of income is. The tone you are using - I bet , is in more than just your "job life". I really would recommend finding someone to talk to..

I really do wish you the best. and good luck

You mentioned you might need dragon sftwr. Try a search here- I think you might find it.

Sorry but a decent sales job provides a base plus commission and believe me I have managed my share of sales operations in Fortune 1000 companies. That said the OP needs really reassess what they are looking for in terms of work. As other have said IM is pure sales, no base, no safety net, you are truly on your own. You may want to find a regular, non-sales job and do IM on the side until you sort it out! Good luck and learn from your experiences.

Hey Jov I now many jobs may not be your thing, But look in craiglist etc for data entry jobs, they are usually easy, you just punch in info in computors, and no bs customers etc, or look in hotels jobs they require minimun headaches from customers, try being an evening desk agent, believe me evening jobs are when things go slow and easy for ya, hope it helps

the problem isn't with my mindset not being geared towards %100 commission, the problem is selling products at %100 commission which for me is very difficult to sell and not reliable. not sure how my choice of language scares you maybe you can help me out but, one of the main reasons i posted this thread was to find people to talk on the matter other then those i already have.

OAN : I'm thankful for the support and advice from everyone and i am and always will be optimistic for the future

Actually the most aggressive pay plans for salespeople only offer draw against commission. You get paid what basically amounts to an advance against future commissions, and it's just to take the hills and valleys out of your paychecks while you ramp up or build a new funnel at a new gig. If you're a pro, chances are you have no fear of being paid only on what you produce - I know I never did.

I'll be damned if someone is going to get away with paying me $X no matter how hard I hustle or how much I produce.

i didn't get fired i quit the job

and i have used it myself in the past and it has worked for me but i abandoned that method (for another method which caught my attention).

it isn't a scam the network is called zipnadazilch dot com and they pay daily $20 for each offer the person you refer completes. they have a subprogram where you get $80 for filling out a few offers at at time. so each person you refer you get about $100 payed to you the very next day. the person who referred me makes consistently 1k/weekly with just 10 referrals a week. just letting you know as i said I'm not CL advertising to scam people when I'm showing them the same method i use.

Agreed but the most aggressive plan is not usually the most sustainable but instead tends to be bursty in terms of overall revenue generation. Large companies rely on sustained growth.
