As any web-designer will tell you, Internet Explorer sucks ass. I'm planning on releasing a few more things for BHW over the next month or so, but I'd rather not resort to using old technologies and fallbacks if only five percent of my user base are running on shitty old browsers.

So, my question is - as this is a relatively technical community (at least technical enough to set-up websites and such), what browser do you use?

I personally use Google Chrome, and I'd take a guess to say most of you either use that or Firefox, but - I'll let the poll decide :)!

If you're not actually sure (I don't know why you wouldn't be), you can go here http://fmbip.com/#target-selector to find out your browser version.

I use a combination of opera, chrome and ie9 - opera is still my favourite as it has so many good features - tabs, recycle bin, speeddial, opera link (computer sync), password "wand", session save and much more.
I really like chrome as well, and it's more compatible than opera.
Also I am actually starting to like IE as of version 9, it's just starting to become comparable.

For further info, I checked my site stats (UK primarily) over the last 6k visitors:

IE - 53.8% - (out of that, roughly 60% ie8, 15% each for 7,9 and 10% still on ie6)

Chrome - 15.9%

Firefox - 15.8%

Safari - 6.4%

Mobile devices - 5.1%

Web crawlers - 1.4%

Opera - 1.1%

Other - 0.6%

Of course i used Mozilla Firefox since i started online.. I just upgraded to Firefox version 7 last yesterday and was pretty amazing very fast than ever..

Firefox is good.. Chrome is good also but be careful when you using it, google spying you all your works when you use Chrome.. that's the reason why i haven't use them!

Firefox is ok, I know it's got good assume, I always found it slow in the past, I guess that's probably changed now..??

Athlete, come on, it's Microsoft, it's supposed to do that:)

I use Firefox Version 7 too! Love it really..

just type and browse, super fast to load.. very slim as my description.. I like this new version

Yeah, I used to use reports, but the problem is - use case. In my case I've got what I would assume to be a web/tech oriented community (at least lightly), compared to say a website targeted at the elderly who probably just use stock web browsers (IE).

Care to share your audience ;) (obviously, I understand if you don't)?

Info from the most recent 5k~ visitors on a gaming related site.

1. Firefox 35.23%
2. Chrome 35.18%
3. Safari 13.64%
4. Internet Explorer 11.06%
5. Opera 2.15%
6. Android Browser 2.09%

I use safari for regular browsing, and firefox with heavy add-ons when i'm "working"

I have been addicted to the FOX for Years Now, and I have a Mac XD I don't like Safari for some reason, nut sure why

I heard FireFox cut out around 20% of resource usage on this version, I'll probably upgrade after posting this :).

Props for the stats! Those stats make a lot of sense, as most gamers know what they're doing. I'd take a guess to say it's not one of your average flash gaming sites (they'd probably see 3x the IE usage) :).

Yeah Firefox is the best too!

Firefox can carry a heavy add-ons.. That's why i choosed firefox..
I came from opera, IE, chrome but i vote for Firefox!

Good point. The site I took stats from operates in the finance sector.

Interesting to see the gaming niche shows very different results !!
