It's unfortunate, but a lot of people in this world possess absolutely no skills and lack the ability to think for themselves or at least even put a twist on other people's ideas. Otherwise known as scum of the earth..

Ok, so here's the point. Never ever put any websites, niches or whatever on flippa that you may not be able to sell. People are surfing flippa and ripping entire sites. Happened to a site I sold, luckily.. I've seen two complete replicas so far. And they even rank for similar keywords. They ripped everything right down to the html.

After this experience, I think I am going to be focusing on larger authority sites. I mean, if some assh*le can just copy your entire site and start ranking for keywords that fast, well, just proves that G is nothing but a stupid bot.

The one thing I hate more than anything in this world are thieves...

I know a lot of people will just say move on, forget about it or whatever. Which I can do since the site is not mine anymore. But the bottom line is, this behavior is no better than a petty thief pick pocketing people, or someone robbing your house. Tired of this sh*t. Tired of people taking content or property that is not theirs. I just launched a site a few days ago, and already see about 3 feeder sites.

A word to people doing this. If you can't come up with your own ideas, be it content, site structure, finding niches or whatever, than IM is not for you. Go get a real f*cking job. Go work for McDonalds or be my grocery bagger at the supermarket, I don't care. You'll never make it anywhere in life. And if you manage to make some money ripping people's sites, it will be short lived and you will find yourself right where you began, in your mom's basement masturbating with a tube sock.

Blackhat is not stealing, it's about gaming the system and being creative.

Mods, if you feel this is out of line, let me know and I'll edit out what you want.

That is bs when people pull that .. I have experienced that many times in different venues from sites to ebay, it is one thing to see an idea and compete, it is a whole different thing to take someone's idea and use his hard work to rip him off.

Hmmm Flippa is a good place to do market/keyword research, but ripping an entire site is pretty bad! May be you should go for a confidential listing.

Someone just released a WSO on reverse engineering Flippa auctions, so that would probably explain it.

It happens all the time, though, so be very careful if you're buying low end sites from Flippa or other open forums.

I sold a site a while back, and found about 10 exact copies with a week. Admittedly, they never managed to replicate the rankings, but it definitely affected revenue.

If you have a decent site to sell, either use the confidential listing setting on Flippa or go through a decent broker who has pre-vetted buyers.

Thanks guys.. Just confirms how rampant this is. As my warning states, if you have any doubt about being able to sell the site in question, than you do not want to list it on flippa as you will be shooting yourself in the foot if it does not sell. Or as meathead1234 says, use the private listing.

it will be short lived and you will find yourself right where you began, in your mom's basement masturbating with a tube sock.

I see money making opportunities everywhere I go. I mean right there even.. Who wants to buy 1000 tube socks? ;)

Seriously though be original people. Don't rip entire sites. That's just dumb.

I know a lot of people will just say move on, forget about it or whatever. Which I can do since the site is not mine anymore.

The worst thing is that the new owner might accuse you of cloning the website to compete with him.

Guys, make them sign a NDA before revealing sensitive information.

and I'm not talking about the digitally signed one.

can we talk about it on skype...i was wondering what happened...I think G should be aware of this thing...this is not what panda update is about...anyway let me know when you are available so we can talk.

I stopped using flippa to buy stuff and only use it for market research. Always surprised me how my new found site would dramatically disappear from the rankings. Great warning.

that sucks man

ALSO i lost an auction on flippa once, but I messaged the website creator to simply make ME a copy as well. I paid 200 and got an exact copy of the site I just lost in auction (went up to 500). So not just theives but also the website creators don't give a crap about non-competitive type situations

i STOPPED using Flippa for market research. WHY? because the sellers on there are professional exaggerators... they can make a shitty site look like a gold mine. but what they don't show you sometimes is that their revenue isn't sustainable or that they are using their own email lists or other traffic sources that you won't have access to. like when they claim $5,000 in TWO DAYS! that will sometimes be because they blasted it on a partner's email list or put a WSO up for a limited time and after that is done they sell it to you telling you that income is sustainable and regular
