Just Got Ripped Off For Work Completed

I posted 700 ads on craigs this week for a local car dealership I just picked up as a new client. I have gotten too comfortable and trusting with my clients. I agreed to let them pay me at the end of the week, against my better judgement. Usually I always take payment up front but this looked like a good client and a reputable dealership so I let em slide. I just spent the last 2 hours deleting all the ads (posted with pva's) and now just chalking it up as a loss. Just wanted to share this as a warning to others, ALWAYS GET PAID UP FRONT.

so what was their excuse? what state are they in? you have many remedies for this. you could kindly tell them that just as you posted 700 ads to sell their cars you can post 700 ads to NOT sell their cars.

Post defamatory ads nonstop till they pay you!

i'll be more then happy to call them and talk to the gm for you and get to the bottom of this. it just burns my ass when people get screwed.

Start posting negative ads for this dealership. Let them if they dont pay you they will loose a lot more. It works if you are a little aggressive.

Post 100 free boat ads across the country with their main phone number. Should bring a call every 3 seconds for a week or so... jam up the voicemail system. BTW I would never do anything like this... it would be childish. it's just an idea.

Do you have emails or records showing a verbal contract. If you do file a lawsuit with the DA or at least threaten to! In America we have a strong court system so things like this don't happen. - take advantage of it.

Bahaha, this reminded me of a news story just posted about a guy that has roughly 600k twitter followers (don't quote me) but there are a lot and he posted a free internship position for his work and used the number of a local police station. From the sounds of it jammed the lines up for hours!

It is pretty easy to get your money. Here is how.
I have used this technique before.

First you have to understand what the dealership doesn't want.
They don't want negative publicity so if they ripped you off
it's because they THINK they can get away with it with
no LOSS on their end.

So what you have to do is let them know there is going to me more PAIN
inflicted when they don't pay.

Basically you need to have a thread of publicly embarrassing them
and scarring of all their customers.

EXAMPLE: You select the their biggest days and show up with there with a huge
sign that says "WARNING: DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM [NAME] DEALERSHIP
UNTIL YOU TALK TO ME...THEY STOLE $,$$$ FROM ME AND MY FAMILY

Use White postboard and red letter...

then get a few people 2 to hold the same sign. Before you know
customer are going to be coming up to you to find out what happened.

when a few start circling around you the dealership manager will quickly
notice and realize that he NEEDS to solve this problem quickly
before it grows. At that point he will ask to meet with you or ask you to leave.
if he asks you to leave...tell him in no uncertain terms to go F#@# himself.

When you sit down with him tell him he has 5 minutes to write you a check
for the full amount + $200 for trying to F### with him.

Not only that go to his competition and offer to do their CL ads.

and that if that doesn't happen you will be calling the local media ABC, NBC
and papers to report them as well as submitting a report to ripoffreport.com

believe me at this point he will write you a check, apologize , and get you cup of warm expresso ...
bonus points if you wear black shoes have him shine them for you too...

That was the rapper The Game, he says someone hacked his account and posted that. Still pretty funny though.

This is something really very sad when we deliver work and buyers cheats. There are too many ways to do fraud in this tech world. I have been getting screwed by lots of scammers around and I guess that is something we have to make provisions in our balance sheet.

Sad thing is that they'll never realize what 700 well written ads could have done for their business. Offline businesses stand to benefit so much from the right kind of internet presence, but not if they screw with the IM's who know what they're doing!

They're not worth your time. Go find other clients who'll appreciate you.

You can tell a lot about the OP by what ISN'T posted.

Note, there's a gap in the sequence where you'd think some description about the billing failure took place. You'd expect something like "...and when I called and asked when I would be paid, they said...." or "They claim the deal was that I get paid based on how many cars they sell.", or something along those lines.

I am suspicious of people that "conveniently" leave out critical information. This whole thread hinges on the one factor that isn't even mentioned: What were the circumstances regarding the non-payment for the ads?

Even if this information gets put in after the fact, I still have doubts regarding the OP and how reliable the information is. You have to completely ignore your target audience when you construct a message like the OP, and this is a marketer talking to other marketers, so there is no "oops, I forgot" here, it's indicative of something larger and more significant.
