He wants to get into business on the internet. He wants to learn how to make website, learn how ads work, etc. Not specifically internet marketing (yet anyway), but he wants to learn more.
My problem is he doesn't know ANYTHING about how shit works.
The problem stems deeper then learning HTML, but rather the internet in general.
He doesn't know how domains, FTP, hosting, IP addresses and DNS servers work. For instance, he thought domains and hosting were both the same thing.
He doesn't understanding advertisements/affiliates. He doesn't understand how like Google AdWords or Adsense works, and also, he can't seem to comprehend the fact that web companies are able to track someones sales, and give you money for it. And how cookies work. And he doesn't understand how this all works togethor.
He insists that he can buy premade templates via Yahoo! Sitebuilder that will do everything for him. And he doesn't understand the need to learn hard coding in notepad.
Before he can ever start a website up like he wants to, he needs to learn how the web works. I can only answer so many of his questions per day.
I'd like to get some links to helpful websites, or books that can help him with this. He really wants to learn but he's just so used to being a consumer on the internet, it's hard for him to see theres so much more behind it. It would be very much appreciated if you could help me!
