He wants to get into business on the internet. He wants to learn how to make website, learn how ads work, etc. Not specifically internet marketing (yet anyway), but he wants to learn more.

My problem is he doesn't know ANYTHING about how shit works.

The problem stems deeper then learning HTML, but rather the internet in general.

He doesn't know how domains, FTP, hosting, IP addresses and DNS servers work. For instance, he thought domains and hosting were both the same thing.

He doesn't understanding advertisements/affiliates. He doesn't understand how like Google AdWords or Adsense works, and also, he can't seem to comprehend the fact that web companies are able to track someones sales, and give you money for it. And how cookies work. And he doesn't understand how this all works togethor.

He insists that he can buy premade templates via Yahoo! Sitebuilder that will do everything for him. And he doesn't understand the need to learn hard coding in notepad.

Before he can ever start a website up like he wants to, he needs to learn how the web works. I can only answer so many of his questions per day.

I'd like to get some links to helpful websites, or books that can help him with this. He really wants to learn but he's just so used to being a consumer on the internet, it's hard for him to see theres so much more behind it. It would be very much appreciated if you could help me! :)

I have a lot of friends like this. I tell them I made an affiliate sale and the next thing you know they want to do it too. It took me years to get to where I'm at now.

My advice give him a couple websites that have decent tutorials. But don't tell him everything you know. You will burn yourself out.

Some people get it and some people will never change. Sometimes you can't teach hard work and determination. Let him fall on his own. Either he'll get back up or he'll stay on the ground and move on to something else.

Oh trust me I know. My brother and dad are "professionals" in their respective fields, and make about 70k a year already at their day job. Anyway, I hooked my dad, brother up about a year ago using my method, my website code, my advertisement method and everything. They make 50 grand a year because of me yet I have not seen a penny. And they have never learned a single thing and when something goes wrong they cry foul to me, and I tell them I don't want to help them, and they team up on me and say I'm "greedy" for basically, not giving them free money for something they have done zero work, and have zero knowledge in. I handle the domains, the hosting, and even set up there affiliate accounts, links, and advertising accounts. Everything.

I'm very close to disowning my family. No joke either.

So yes, I know not to just "give everything away." Trust me on that.

Step by Step.

1. Go to Warrior Forum and look for noob threads (shouldn't be too hard to find)
2. See which membership sites people are reccommending.
3. Go get your affiliate link.
4. Tell him to purchase through this link to get a bonus.
5. After he has learned all he needs to know then help him.

You won't lose money as he bought thru your affy link, he is happy and knowledgeable and so both sides win :D

If you would agree to do this for me I would give you 50% (minimum);)

Dont worry, 99% of the world doesn't know how domains, FTP, hosting, IP addresses and DNS servers work.. thats why its our job to monetize that :) How good would all that knowledge be if EVERYONE in the world could do it? It would be worthless :D

Have him start by sighing up at amazon or clickbank and making a youtube video to promote his link or a squidoo page. or a video AND a squidoo page with the video on it :) Just keep building off of that. Next he can get his own page, add blogger and ezinearticles into the mix, get adsense, etc.

if he can't sit through youtube and squidoo, which is free, he won't last long enough to make any money. no point in going further.

oh, and if he starts signing up for his own stuff like hosting, autoresponder, namecheap, etc....you can have him use your link so you get something for helping him out :) At least when he's ready for that. He can share your accounts until then.

I tried to get my roommate into it, but he disappears for days or weeks with friends, so I gave up pretty much. some people aren't motivated enough.

send him to basic computer class first with focus on the web. If he can't pass it, then you should suddenly get abducted by aliens if he's asking around for you.

the he should start himself trial and error procedure..... i would have no nerve to explain things from basics internet... either he learns fast or he will drop the idea soon.
