Mac or windows?

I bought alienware m15x yesterday, but still waiting to received it due to bad condition they are not able to deliver it today and before I bought it I did a lot research so chose alienware :D Happy Bday

Yeah the alienware looks aewsome. My brother is trying to convert me to a mac user but i dont like the fact that some software that you get on windows can be installed on the mac.

Sucks tbh

It can still be installed, you just have to run windows on your mac using parallels or VM Ware or something like those.

Anyway, I just got a mac about a month ago and I love it. I've been a long time PC user and I found the switch to be pretty easy.

Aren't Alienware's gaming PCs anyway?

On another note, I wish when I was 18 someone bought me a car and a new computer...

Used to be a mac user a long time ago, but got fed up with nothing running on it. Sure you can run PC stuff on it, but its not the same. Once you start using a mac you will be amazed at how much cool software is not written for it.

I have 2 macs here, I never use them...

Alienware is cool and has awesome design but it's way overpriced if you're just looking for performance. If you're willing to pay alot more for a pretty PC, knock yourself out.

If I'm reading it right you are getting an i5 with 2 GB ram and a logo for 850 pounds.

400 can get you a noname desktop with 16 GB ram and an i7 CPU. That's at least 10 times more useful for games and IM. If you still want a notebook to do some work while flying or lying in bed or whatever, get some 12" dual core for another 350 or so.

Yeah that was what i was thinking Monrox , I seen some stunning custom gaming pc's and the specs are amazing. Might have a good look now :D

Still undecided need more bribing lol

Got a MacBook Pro 13" now for more than a year and wont change it back to my old windows machine again.

I mean for some IM work there are definitely no OSX version but using Paralells desktop is the solution for everything. I run everything which is not supported by OSX on that and it works great...

Of course, Apple has its price :/

Yeah but with that price comes reliability and quality. My brother has the macbook 13" and i must say it looks nice and its really quick.

I guess i'm going to get a mac :D

I rely on my favorite PassMark web site to look for the fastest CPU to pick to be used for building the desktop PCs/servers.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Today's fastest Intel CPU at damn good price is: i7-2600 ($295)

Note: I never pay for the outrageous top-end CPU price, only few tiers below.

If you buy a Mac it looks like you buy a car that can only go in 10% of roads

After I wrote a long reply going into detail of which is better... Had no urls, no links, no pictures, no email adress and obviously wasn't trying to sell anything.

Anyways short version...

mac > alienware in this specific case. (bigger screen, better processor)

Bottom line: Both are junk and overpriced and no you don't get "quality with mac" that so many of you claim here. It's same exact parts inside as a so called "PC" computer just at double the price.

Seriously for the price you listed you can get a really nice laptop with some nice specs. So maybe consider looking into different brands?

Macs=not for a blackhatter, Windows=definitely for a blackhatter :D
