I am getting a external hard drive, how do I speed up the transfer rate.

I wanted to get this drive to back up my hard drive but this seagate is only usb 2.0.


I got sata on my laptop so should I get a sata adapter maybe to speed up the transfer rate ?

Yeah i recommend using sata. Its much faster. But it doesn't look like the one you have picked has a sata port.

You can also get USD 3.0 if your motherboard has the port. it also flies, its really fast

A trick for USB drives on some OSes is to change the default type from "removable" to "non-removable", and/or enable write-caching. Speeds it up a lot - but make sure if you do this that you use the eject device option on your task bar before unplugging it.
