yo,

my site is on page 3. Its 12 days old and I started back linking 7 days ago.

Haven't finished my back linking and xrumer posting yet.

Pretty stoked though as thats real quick.

Will keep updated

This isn't going to be like the post where guy was ranking #1 for a phrase NOBODY searched for is it? What kind of competition do you have? What kind of searches does your term get?
 
It's possible for more competitive keywords too. G00gle gives an initial boost to new sites. But you can expect some crazy dance sooner or later.
 
If there isn't crazy competition for good local terms and the top 5 competitors for that search term have less than 30 links, shouldn't it be possible to get ranked pretty high fairly quickly?

I think the filters we use to determine success is determined by what we are attempting to accomplish.

IMHO, it should be much easier to rank for long-tail keyword + city vs "dog".

Oh, OP? Good job! How many backlinks are you throwing at the new site and what method are you using?
 
How competitive is the term you're ranked for? Is it for a local search? Is it a long-tail keyword?

Thats too funny I think he was #1 for jewish black accountants or something nutty like that :)

I however did do a city+autoglass.com and in a few days was P1 and its still there, IDK how it has like no backlinks.. sometimes I really wonder about Google.
 
It's a pretty solid term too 3 words. 30k seraches per month on google, 301k competition
 
447k competition sorry broad, for exact 26,900 in exact I rank 6th.

That's good... hope it sticks for you. Good chance tho that you are in the "honeymoon period" and you will be bouncing around after another week or two... off on the right foot though!!! If your numbers are right, there should be some stiff competition for 30K exact.
 
I've done the research 2nd place has 28 BL to page, none of the sites have .govt backlinks and I'll have an xrumer submit to my web 2.0 sites soon.

site is 15 days old, and positioned 15 (just bellow some youtube vids).

No offence but what is the point of these threads...

Even if you have 100k exact a month you can rank top page one in a few days or even faster... SEO is not only about the amount of backlinks...
 
cool lil update, Front page (10) for another of my sites (14 days old) - for about 4 keywords. 2nd page for 6 others and 3rd page for the main 2.

But what is interesting, on yahoo:

First page for all keywords.

Position 3 for 2 keywords. 2nd position for 6 keywords. 1st position for 4 keywords! alright aye?
