My chair wont recline
so i just got a new chair for my desk. In the store it reclined fine, when I first put it together it reclined fine. I wound up turning that nob on the bottom. Its a big black round nob you can rotate several times left or right which I know is for the reclining function. Now no matter which way I turn it, it seems to only recline a little. What is the logic behind it? each time i mess with it, it seems like neither direction has a definite impact on the reclining capability. Im going crazy with this thing!! i just wanna lean back forever!!!

Re: My chair wont recline
Try taking it apart and putting it back together again. If that doesn't do the trick, take it back to where you got it from and get a new one.
On a side note, I had bought a chair from the Art Van furniture store a while back. That expensive piece of crap never did work right. However, I kept on putting up with it. One day, I went to sit down in the dirty pig, and it dumped me right over backwards. Kind of amusing for my kid and husband, not so much for me. Lesson learned: when it doesn't work right, take it back.

Re: My chair wont recline
I have a chair like that with one of those knobs. Also, there is a little bar that sticks out underneath that needs to be pulled OUT in order to allow the recline. If it's pushed in, it will remain in the upright position. FYI - This bar also allows the height of the chair to be adjusted.

False advertising. If it doesn't work like it did in the store take it back and ask them wtf is wrong with it

thanks that fixed it. i thought that bar was just for bringing the chair up and down. I didn't realize I could also pull it out. Now I also think I realize what the knob is for.. I think it adjusts the resistance of the reclining. Time to lean back and write some code.

Re: My chair wont recline
Yeah. The knob is for resistance. Glad that helped.

Re: My chair wont recline
Round black knobs are kind of fun to turn as long as you don't turn them the wrong way or too hard

Re: My chair wont recline
some chairs, you gotta pull the lever on right (that lets you go up and down) out.... that unlocks it
Or do what you shouldve done already. RTFM
